AWESOME SNARE HEAD -- CRISP, VERY RESPONSIVE w/ a BIG SOUND! AMAZINGLY STRONG + VERSATILE. EZ to TUNE
LOVE this snare head! For years, I had always played on Remo Ambassador Coated for my snare drums. But i had just finished restoring, upgrading + customizing an old, deep metal snare drum and i was looking for an upgraded head sound to complete my "new" drum. After some research, i ordered this head. Wow!! As soon as i pulled this head out, i could feel the better quality and construction of it. Once on the drum, it tuned up so quickly + easily that i felt like an idiot for having stuck with Remo all those years! This snare head delivers a BIG sound that i love. It is crisp, very responsive, strong + versatile for different sound-styles AND it stays that way long after most snare heads have worn out or gone "flabby." I play in 3 bands that require 3 very different playing styles/sounds--from bright + ring-y to a heavy-dark boom. This awesome head does it all! It takes non-stop use + abuse then just keeps going without losing its great sound. It's even hard to know when to replace them since there's no real discernible change in their sound or response! I finally changed this head just because i normally would have gone thru 2 or 3 of the Remo heads by then and figured maybe i should. And, get this, i took the old head off + gave it to my friend for his "thrasher" set at home and it's still going strong, sounding great. Amazing! i recommend these highly. If you're still playing the on same old-school snare heads + want to update your sound, do yourself a favor and try these.

Best head I've ever used
This head has to be the best head that I've used in recent history. Tuning low. I can get a fat dry sound out of it, tuning high. I get my snappity crack that I love. Ghost notes all day with his head and rolling like rolling thunder. I highly recommend this head and I will definitely be using it a lot in my career

Good heads, sounds great
Bought three. They are still going after 6 months with no dents or much wear. One is used at a jam every week.

Well engineered snare head
Simply my favorite and most versatile snare drum heads. Air vents help reduce overtones and make a thick and rich tone.

Crisp, crack, and so easy to tune
I've been using this head for quite a while after trying a variety of others, including other Evsns products. As others have noted it's an unbeatable combination with a 300 snare side head. It tunes quickly and easily and doesn't require tone rings or moon gels to eliminate overtones. My main snare is a Black Beauty (I tune about 300hz on the top head, about 400 on the bottom). It's a pleasure to play; every time I sit down to play I'm amazed. I also use this on several other drums such as a 13" Joey Jordinson signature and the ubiquitous 14" Chad Smith. Both are steel and ring out without overtones. I also use it to add crispness and crack to wood drums. It sounds amazing on a Pearl maple, for example. One note: I use these for more contemporary, mid-high to very high tunings. For mid to lower tunings like one might use for classic rock or the big '80s snare I prefer the ST vented. To my ears the HD starts to lose its high level of definition as it's tuned lower; inversely the ST chokes if tuned too high. I know many drummers do use the HD at lower tunings and I can imagine it could be pleasantly warm for styles other than rock. One last thought: both the HD and ST are amazingly tough. Before I found Evans I would burn through an Ambassador (single-ply to be fair) every few weeks. When I change one of these it's usually either to switch to a different tuning range or just to get that shiny new head look.

The Sound I Wished For…
I was skeptical at first, since the dry snare sound I have tried to achieve over the years seemed elusive at best, having tried about every external add-on that I could rig up without total success. But I have been using Evans heads almost exclusively lately- so when I saw this HD Dry and its claims - I bought it.I must admit - I am amazed at the sound the head puts out without the need for coaxing.I installed it nice and tight all the way around and it was instantly my favorite snare.I do still use a mylar trim ring on top, and my bolt-on muff under the batter remains unchanged. But the sound is the best I have ever heard on my kits. I use a 14” DW Performance Series as my primary snare - but I am certain that whatever brand you favor - this head will make it sound better than you previously imagined- and without any effort - other than bolting it on using the same process typically used to install a head. This head will make THE difference! It truly is the ultimate dry tight attack - universally loved in the studio and live on the stage - mic it or not!

Great, but make sure it's what you need.
Was looking for a replacement head on a birch snare drum previously fitted with a Remo Ambassador. I had used the Evans Dry before on another (albeit steel) snare drum with good results. This was going at a very good price but I was a little worried that it might be too dry being the HD Dry version (this has a thin underlay of dampening material - a bit like an "O" ring) fitted underneath the head as well as the small vent holes around the perimeter. Needn't have worried though, as (coupled with a new Evans glass 500 head on the snare side) I got a very nice focussed sound which suits my playing & the music genre . I'm not a fan of moongel or other external dampeners, so this head has met expectations. Probably more suited to pop/rock music than (say) light jazz or quiet styles, and would seem to be a good choice for recording or close-miking up.You need to think about what you're after before buying though as there are two versions and if you need a lively open sound then this type of head may not suit at all.

Gutes Snare Fell für Rockmusik
Spiele es live auf einer Omar hakim Snare 13 Zoll von Pearl. Knackiger Sound, wenig Obertöne, gut abzumischen. Ist das Geld wert
