Irish Setter, Soft Paw, Men’s, Waterproof, Full Grain Leather, Oxford Shoe

I have had these shoes for four months and I am very impressed with their quality. I wear them 5 days a week, 8-10 hours per day. For comfort, style, durability, and quality I have no complaints. I am a heavier guy (275 lbs) so a lot of shoes wear out quick for me. These have held up better than any pair I have owned. They are definitely worth the $125 I paid.However, there are two issues that I had with them:1) The size runs small. I have worn a 10.5 since I was 17 years old in every boot and shoe I have owned. A 10.5 was painful; felt like my foot was in a vice. I returned them and tried an 11 D and they worked great.2) The shoes stings could be better. After 4 months the lace on the right side broke and one on the left was beginning to split. Not a big deal, but I would expect for such a high quality shoe and higher price that the shoe lace be top quality also.Follow Up July, 2017:Still love this shoe. I have had them for about 18 months and they still look great. The leather has held up well and I have only done the minimal upkeep. The soles are showing wear so I will probably have them resoled soon. I am a bigger guy at 270 lbs so my shoes typically wear out within a year. These have held up remarkably and still have a lot of life left. Best shoe I have ever owned.

This is my second pair of this shoe. My first pair is nine years old, and the tread is not as thick now, and the liner is showing its age having lost some of its cushion. I treat the leather with mink oil when new, and buff and treat them again as needed, and that first pair has lasted very well. They are great for being on your feet most of the day, for walking, easy hiking and on ice.

I bought the shoes in 10 M, which is my normal size. The length is about right. Could be a few fractions of an inch longer at the lower end of the half inch mark for a perfect fit. They are a bit narrow in the forefoot area tapering into the toe box (and that's with thin socks on), but not enough to be uncomfortable. A one-way shoe stretcher might take care of that if it's a problem; so the pair I have are good enough for casual wear. But for construction work or hiking wearing unpadded crew socks, or thicker, it might be better to go a half-size up or more, and definitely wider. As others have said, they are very well-made shoes. For the curious on origin, my pair of Irish Setter Men's 3874 Soft Paw Waterproof Oxford Casual Shoes were made in Vietnam.

Really nice, comfortable shoe.

This is positioned as the successor to the 3864 Oxford Irish Setter model, but I would avoid this, or at least only buy it in person, for a number of reasons.First, it has a fit (if you can call it that) that isn't common with any other shoe or boot Irish Setter has sold. It's vastly narrower and smaller than (by at least 2 sizes) than any of the other 3 I've owned over the years. I'm 4 pairs in to trying to get a fit for this, and have finally given up trying to get these to fit in a reasonable way. It's almost as if they're no longer proportioned to the various sizes of human feet. The staff I contacted are friendly enough, but seem to not have any information about the shoes, or their relative sizing, being unable to answer the most basic of questions regarding differences from prior models or even materials.The materials and construction quality are noticeably inferior to the prior incarnations of this shoe, likely as a cost savings. The finish of the leather has suffered in particular - going from supple and smooth, to rubbery and creased. Snag the older model if you can find them.
