A Powerful, Precision Tool That Delivers Exceptional Performance
I recently picked up the DEWALT Router, Fixed Base, 1-1/4 HP, 11-Amp, Variable Speed Trigger, and I have to say, it has exceeded all my expectations. DEWALT has always been my favorite brand, and this router is a perfect example of why. The power behind this machine is phenomenal. With its 11-amp motor, it drills through wood like it’s slicing through butter—smooth and effortless. The variable speed trigger is a fantastic feature, allowing for precise control over the routing process, making it incredibly versatile for any project. I absolutely love the ergonomic design and the fixed base provides great stability and accuracy. It feels well-balanced and easy to handle, which is crucial for achieving clean, professional results. Every feature of this router contributes to its exceptional performance, from the intuitive depth adjustment to the reliable, corded power that ensures consistent operation without the hassle of battery life. In summary, the DEWALT DWP611 is a powerhouse tool that lives up to the brand’s stellar reputation. It’s powerful, efficient, and loaded with features that make routing tasks a breeze. I’m thrilled with my purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch router.

Great Router...Good Power for a small router...
I was looking for a router and I am an intermediate woodworker. I have really had good luck with DeWalt tools and i decided on this compact router by dewalt. It is a good size and the quality is great. It has a bit of weight to it but it not too heavy and it is easy to maneuver with one hand. My favorite part about this router is the small size factor but it is not too small and is comfortable to use. I wasnt too impressed with the LEDs because they are only fairly bright and they dont really improve its performance or make it any easier to use. I really liked the power of this small router and the 1 1/4 horsepower feels like an understatement. With a 3/4 in dado bit, I wasa able to cut 1/4 inch dados in a single pass through plywood. The "D" base on the router is large enough and adds ALOT of stability during edge routing. The variable speed function works great and helps prevent wood burn during routing. I recently chamfered the edge of a shelf with a chamfer but from MLCS and the finished edge was clean, smooth, and there was no burning on the wood. I purchased this with the MLCS 15 Piece Router Bit Set with the 1/4 inch shanks and I am very happy with it as an addition to the router. One negative comment I have about this router is that it does not come with with a dewalt hard case.Overall, I am very happy with this router, and it has excellent performance in small package. Very handy router
This is a very handy little router and I predict it will get a lot of use in my shop. Much of what I use a router for is rounding over edges and other work that doesn't require a lot of horsepower, yet my router for years has been a big, heavy, powerful Hitachi plunge router. The Hitachi is a great tool, but handy, it ain't. This little Dewalt is a great size, has simple, no-frills features and spins a roundover bit with the best of them. The spindle lock works well with the one supplied wrench, the switch and speed controls are in reasonable locations and the LED lighting is pretty cool. I had considered the Bosch Colt, but it seems a little toy-like compared to the Dewalt. I also looked at the Porter-Cable 450, which is a virtual twin to the Dewalt, but lacks the variable speed feature and LED lighting. Seems like this would be a terrific tool for a finish carpenter - sturdy enough to survive the jobsite, good power for typical finish tasks and it doesn't take up a lot of space in the truck. Like others, I'd like this router even better if it came with a case, but it'll probably get used often enough that it will just sit on a shelf where it's easy to grab.

First router -- excellent for small jobs
I'm not really qualified to write this review, as this is my first router. However, I found the unit to be of excellent quality. I would definitely recommend getting the centering cone, as this router came with the base plate slightly misaligned. The depth controls work well and are spot on for calibration. The motor has a slow start so it is very easy to control. I used it to cut rabbets and dados in 3/4" ply to build a battery box for a small solar system. I had no problems with this unit other than operator error. I was initially cutting at too high a speed and too slowly. Once I did some reading, I was able to solve this error and had nothing but great results. Carve out small chips, don't make dust! The work detail LED lighting is an unexpected bonus. I discounted the LEDs on purchase, but in using the unit, the task light right down on the work is invaluable. A couple things I didn't like. The base is a weird width, so it's less intuitive to determine the distance at which to clamp down guards that the base plate is to run against. Also, I found that the little vertical notches in sides the base plate would tend to catch on the guard and tend to twist or push out the router. This problem was easy to work around once I was aware of it. I'm glad I purchased this router. It's a very affordable price for the tasks it can handle.

My goto router for quick and easy work.
I love this little guy. I bought it because I wanted something more manageable than the large Bosch plunge router I already had. That is also a great router, but for quick trim work or easy routing of material, this little (but powerful) guy does the job. The only thing that I found initially confusing was working with changing the depth, but it really is super simple. Unlock the depth stop, twist clock/counterclock-wise, lock the depth stop and be on your way. Changing bits was also super easy.

Great little router
First of all I have a couple of other routers so I'm not looking at this tool to do everything. I've done some high pressure laminate with this router and the edge is perfect at max RPM for this router. I've done a few pattern cut outs with it and the 1 1/4 HP motor has a bit of power to it to do some basic routing as well. I might recommend this as a starter as it is easy to control, easy to keep square with the work piece and quite versatile. The size and weight were pretty nice in my hands, I'm not sure why people would call this heavy or too wide. I found the base to be a little awkward for the type of work it is most likely to do. A square base all around might do better, but the base is rounded in the back of the housing which means you need to continuously have to keep rotating it to keep the square part on the work and get more contact surface. All real routers require this as the handles have to be perpendicular to the work but the Rigid and Bosch models in this area have square bases that are square on all four ends allowing you to quickly go over an entire square keeping the router on the work and not having to rotate it at all. I like this better than the Bosch and Rigid for the depth control the weight and the overall grip. I also think this Dewalt feels better built. I do like that the Rigid comes with a case, edge guide and bit for lesser price. Given the choice between the two I still would opt for the Dewalt in this particular case. I wouldn't say this thing is perfect, but it is pretty darn good. I'm happy I purchased it and I see this router doing nothing but good work for me in the future.

Best router I've owned
Well apparently I got in the router market just in time to see a big upgrade, by big name manufacturers anyway. I did not need a super heavy duty router so the Bosch colt which was the brand I'm used to was a reasonable 100 dollar item. The Dewalt 1.25 was 170 on Amazon. Then I found it..as some sort of combo deal at 110 with a spare base plate that was sent separately and much earlier than the router arrivedbecause they were out of stock already and wouldn't charge my cars until it was available...I went to Lowe's to find a colt because I needed a router to finish these drawers for a kitchen I'm building but they only had one Palm router available...the new dewalt 1.25 for 170 bucks. Bosch discontinued the colt. Mission failure...so I used my big ass plunge router to finish the drawers...it was a beast and the router bit kept gouging the corners. Where is my router?!! 2 days later I'm at Lowe's and the Bosch 1.25 had its own display separate from the router section entirely. Of course I was already committed to the dewalt which is my brand of choice these days anyway..and sure enough when it arrived I busted it right out to try it. Glorious large base plate...very balanced and easy to keep stable and upright. The speed control is nice as I was only doing 1/8th over rounds and didn't need it to scream at me. I have big hands but the diameter of the unit is larger than im used to...I love the height adjustment latch..its secure and doesn't get in my way. I can see the work while my hand is on the base. Very happy plenty of power great deal!

Despite its small footprint, it doesn't compromise on power. The 1-1/4 HP motor can handle a wide range of routing tasks, from edge profiling to dado cutting, with ease. The variable speed trigger is a game-changer. It allows for fine-tuned control over the cutting speed, which is crucial for achieving clean, precise cuts on different materials. Whether I'm working with hardwood or softwood, this router effortlessly handles the task. The fixed base design is simple to use and offers stability during operation. The clear sub-base provides excellent visibility, so I can see exactly where I'm cutting. Changing the bits is a breeze, thanks to the spindle lock and the large, easy-to-reach button.
¡Me gustó mucho!

A very good router for 90% of tasks
For the majority of uses, a great palm sander. The fit and machining is very good. Manual depth adjusting is done by unlocking and turning the motor housing inside the machined barrel. This is a very smart design and allows depth adjustment on the fly. There is also fine adjustment but it's not meant to be used on the fly rather in advance of a cut. The power is more than sufficient for most of my needs and the motor circuitry maintains the same speed while idle or when loaded and cutting. The soft start is ok, but I think it could be refined somewhat, but better than instant on. As most routers, better to start at lowest speed from off and increase. Of great help are the LED lights that illuminate the base. Some have shrugged at this feature, but I find it immensely helpfull especially for detailed work. Bottom line, Overall, I used a new Freud 1/16 bit for inlay work on teak, and this tool will allow highly precise work. The usual work, for example routing edges on kitchen cabinet doors, is very straightforward with it. Last, it also comes as a set with a plunge base, but I didn't need it for now - point is that it's very versatile for most jobs.
