Updated Working well now
I've been taking some form of magnesium for years now. I was really excited after reading about this because I suffer from migraines and thought this might help. I've taken it about 5 days and it just makes me feel really weird. Maybe my magnesium is low in my brain and cns and its some sort of reaction to getting magnesium in there. I felt very awake on it, so that was nice, but also emotional and jitterish. Not like caffeine jitters. Maybe I just haven't taken it long enough for the kinks to work out. It also causes me some heartburn which I wasn't expecting. Going to give it more time and see if things improve, but at this point it's not the panacea I was hoping for. ****update*** I took a break from this for a couple weeks and started back up with 1/2 the capsule. I am (now) loving it! I don’t have the jittery feeling any longer and it doesn’t seem to be causing the heartburn issue as much. It just makes me feel good. I feel awake and calm. I don’t seem as fatigued or overwhelmed by physical or mental tasks. I actually look forward to taking this because of how good it makes me feel all over. But it’s not an overwhelming jolt of feel good, but a subtle yet noticeable sense of well-being.

Some nice surprises, great product
So, you try a supplement which is supposed to help your brain and your memory, but you know in the back of your mind that it won’t. But guess what? This one did! I started remembering things I forgot that I knew. Even little details! I was taking it for about three months when it dawned on me that I was having this memory recall. Definitely worth buying. As an added bonus, it helps keep your digestion regular because it’s magnesium.

Very good
A little google research will turn up a number of articles alleging that 70-80% of Americans are now deficient in magnesium, due to changes in diet (less consumption of leafy green vegetables, etc.) and so-called "corporate farming methods" that have depleted the soil of this essential mineral. There are a number of critical benefits to supplementing with magnesium, which including bone health, by balancing out calcium (there are plenty of studies now showing that calcium can't be absorbed properly without magnesium), moderating heart and blood pressure risks, neurological - improving sleep and concentration, preventing migraines, etc. It's quite a list. I started getting magnesium for our household to address some anxiety and restlessness issues, as well as some muscle cramps, and it _appears_ that the supplements we've used have had the desired effect. You can find the NIH fact sheet on magnesium linked here: http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Magnesium-HealthProfessional/ Turning to this supplement: there are various types of magnesium supplements that you can buy, including magnesium oxide (low bioavailability), magnesium sulfate (think Epsom salts), magnesium citrate (decent bioavailability), magnesium bisglycinate (high bioavailability) and magnesiums l-threonate. Of these types, I've used bisglycinate (as in the Viva labs pills and others) because of its high bioavailability and source naturals l-threonate because of its documented neurological benefits in improving brain function. I tend to steer away from others because, despite being less costly, they are also less effective. You get what you pay for, to a degree. I certainly would never consider a magnesium oxide supplement, as in my opinion that's basically a waste of money. The Viva Labs magnesium comes in the form of 240 decently large, but readily swollowable, chelated tablets. They're somewhat larger than the Source Naturals L-Threonate capsules that I'm currently taking, and the Viva Labs tablets are bit harder to get down, but not so large that it's a problem for me. I can't tell the difference when I switch between them, to be honest. That said, when I started taking the Magtein, I found I slept much better and started having some fairly intense dreams - this has continued while taking the Viva Labs magnesium, so I assume the absorbtion is at least somewhat comparable. As far as price - the Magtein is far more expensive then Viva Labs chelated magnesium, although I think it's the cheapest of the L-threonate magnesiums - currently listed at $21.69 for 90 capsules, or 24 cents each. The suggested use is 2 in the am and 1 at night - 3/day or 72 cents a day. Viva Labs is listed at $18.99 for 240 tablets, or approximately 8 cents each. the suggested use is 2 tablets twice a day, for a cost of almost $.32/day. Simply put, the Viva Labs magnesium costs less than half of the Source Naturals L-Threonate magnesium. That doesn't mean it's necessarily the right choice - I think everyone should do a little research and also decide exactly what they are trying to accomplish. Source Naturals L-Threonate might be the right choice to help with memory and neurological issues - Viva labs might be desirable for coronary issues, muscle relaxation, and teeth and bones. Regardless, I suspect both these products work well, albeit possibly to different degrees, and both of these products are worthy of consideration.

One of the most effective products I've tried so far for anxiety
I started taking this on April 19th so it's been two weeks exactly. I take one at lunch and one around 6pm when I get home from work (so with and without food). I read you should anticipate best results as late as 12 weeks, but two weeks in and I've already pretty much decided I'm going to take this stuff for the rest of my life. It has helped so much with anxiety that I almost feel like a different person. My body feels calm, no more chronic stress induced chest tension and my mind is a hundred times more mellow and able to handle challenges at work. I think that might be one of the ways it helps with memory, when you're collected you're much more able to think things through and commit things to memory. I can't wait to see how I feel in 10 more weeks! For anyone curious, I also love 5-htp, rhodiola and gaba for anxiety. It's a fairly big personal struggle for me and has been for years, so I've done much experimenting with herbs and supplements. A whole-food multi and Omega 3 with extra DHA are in my staple supplements, and now this product

Definitely helped with calming mind & with focus. Check seller ratings before buying. Bit on the costly side due to the import premium.
