Good loupe. Obviously a fairly small field of focus at this magnification (17.5x) but the loupe seems good quality and the adjustable focus ring makes it easier to use. Usefully, this top piece actually screws right off the clear wide base, so you can still look at things where the base might stop one getting in close enough.

I was really surprised with the quality of this loupe considering the price, solidly made and good magnification. The clear plastic dome lets in plenty of light.,

Ideal for photographs or maps and other hobbies.

I did like the idea of a moveable lens but it didn't work, as the image was difficult to get in focus. The 7x magnification one was a better purchase.

Came next day! so put to use at once. Very well built and optically sharp. The x10 loupe is great but this as the added bonus of being able to adjust the focus, which is great if the item you place it on is not totally flat. Plus you can always use free hand on any given object. 10/10

Really has to be used with a powerful light, e.g. very bright torch etc.

Super clear, fantastic that it's adjustable for focus. It is wider than I had anticipated (my fault for not reading properly) which won't be an issue for looking at negs but might be trickier for looking on the ground glass of a large format camera - not sure it will get into the corners well.

If you don’t have poor eyesight you don’t really need this item. It really doesn’t make much of a difference. Even though it’s 17.5x zoom, don’t be so quick to underestimate your eyesight. Very limited in its use as it has to literally make contact with whatever you are trying to magnify otherwise it is out of focus no matter what kind of adjusting you do. So unless you plan to use another set of magnifying lenses on top of this or you have very high-powered reading glasses I don’t see how it could possibly benefit you. Does make things a little bit easier but definitely doesn’t make the unreadable. readable. Is A good quality item which is lightweight and seems durable. however if your eyesight is in good order order I don’t think this item is for you. I would recommend a high-powered magnifying lens which can easily do this items job, much more.

Well built and pretty good optics for an uncorrected loupe. I say uncorrected and it only uses spherical lens geometry so there's quite a bit of distortion and aberration as you start viewing away from the center, but this is expected. A loupe with aspheric and/or multiple elements is going to add another zero to the price.

So, as I have mentioned before, I usually only write reviews on stand out products, that I've purchased. This isn't to say that other products aren't worthy of reviews. As much as I wish I could write reviews for all things purchased, there just isn't enough time. I am not paid, nor given free items, to review. I am just a regular person, like many of you, and this is just my honest opinion. With that said, this Carson Lumiloupe, is one of those products that i think deserves a shout out. I am a coin collector and have purchased many unlit loupes, but being unlit, most don't allow enough light in. The Lumiloupe, having a clear base, does what the others don't. It let's in light. Granted, you will need an external light source. The thing I like about this Lumiloupe is it's ability to focus. My vision is far from great, so the ability to focus, is a huge plus for me.(I know, I should probably take up a different hobby. One that doesn't require looking at minute details, on really small objects. I just love coins.) The lens on this loupe is really good. I haven't noticed any abnormalities or distortion. The other niceity, is the field of vision. I can see the entire coin. I have tried it on everything from a dime to an Eisenhower dollar, without issue. This loupe is lightweight, easy to use, and a good value. Don't get me wrong, it may not be for everyone, as it is a bit bulky. For my use, at home, it is just what I need. I will probably purchase another Lumiloupes, if I find one similar to this, with a magnification of between 25 and 50, at a similar price point.(My old eyes need extra magnification.) Hopefully, the Lumiloupe will help me find that rare, valuable coin, that every amateur coin collector, hunts a lifetime for.
