How long is the rail?

Do you need to have a boxspring to use this? Will it work for a platform bed with just a mattress?

There is no need for a boxspring. The brackets that fit under the mattress have pre drilled holes to enable you to screw the brackets to the platform. The assembly directions provide that as an option. You will need to provide your own screws for this purpose but in the end you'll have a more sturdy guard than with the mattress/boxspring arrangement.

What are the dimensions once it's installed?

The length is 35.5" for the regular size or 59" for the extra long. Height depends on how big your mattress is, but the product itself is 19.5" high. It is big enough so the toddler does not fall out of bed, but small enough so toddler can still get out without having to bring down bed rail. If you measure your mattress size, you will be able to determine if it's enough space to make you feel comfortable. Thank you for your inquiry!

Would this work on a daybed (no box spring) with just a mattress on top of wire springs?

Hi Rust, thank you for your question.Yes it should work on top of a daybed that has wire springs. Included in the box are two velcro straps that you can wrap around the wire and bed rail to secure.
