This is a very sturdy and well designed pergola kit
This is a very sturdy and well designed pergola kit, very impressive for the price. Treated already to last 15 years with no rot. Delivery was quick, ordered on Sunday, delivered Friday and the driver unloaded the pergola and put down the side of my house. The day before delivery I received a text message asking me to confirm I would be in that day - so delivery was a breeze. Another review on this product was negative about Forest but this is the third delivery I've had over the last ten years from then and all have been fine, the display at the RHS shows and I've previously bought direct from them at Hampton Court Flower show. Main thing is to check the parts with the delivery driver before they go - they are all listed out on the instructions, this pergola only has 19 pieces plus the screws. It took me half a day to install and can be installed by one person if you do it in stages slightly differently from the instructions. i.e. post by post putting the cross beams over to make sure it is level before you put the next post in, use the rafters to check post distance, fit the trellis before you concrete the next posts in etc. 5 bags of postcrete used. You can adjust the internal with if you need to - you would just need to alter the spacing of the rafters to make it look balanced.

It's great - really lovely
It's great - really lovely. It arrived on time undamaged and looks wonderful in a seaside garden. The company is careful about ensuring delivery etc and phoned us up. I'd just give this advice: it says it needs two or more people to erect it. That's true. My husband and I managed it and we are in our 60s - but it is solid and heavy and although it's very simple to do, when you are fitting all the main large pieces together, the shape and solid weight of the arch means it's a bit unwieldy to handle - one needs to be holding it a certain position while the other knocks the bits together. It took us about four hours but it would have been easier with bigger stronger people - or more of us. With a good heavy mallet or two! So get help. You won't be disappointed when it's finally up...

Delivered, even though the website said it wasn't
Although it said I hadn't received it, I had ,and in good time too. So good service from Forest Products and the garden arch is just what we expected and good quality

A nice arch with a few issues.
I bought the Ryeford arch with the curved top. Actually I bought two as I wanted a matching pair. It is a nice looking arch and the delivery was generally ok. The wood of the arch is also ok, a few cracks etc but nothing much to worry about. My issues were the quality of the workmanship with ragged edges and splintery cuts. I spent a while cleaning them up. The trelliss on the sides also needed the ends leveling off to fit between the posts. However, the advised method of attaching the trellis using screws was an abortion and would not only be difficult but would easily split the thin wood. I used simple angle clips for the job which was perfect. I would advise the company to supply the same! Another annoying thing is that to keep the arch pieces together for delivery, they attach a couple of lengths of nylon type string held in place by numerous 1/2 inch staples. These staples are a real pain to remove but if you leave them, they will rust and cause any paintwork to look dreadful in no time. So generally pleased with the arches but some simple improvements could make them much better!

Lovely arch
I was contacted in advance to confirm the delivery date/time, and when the delivery arrived, the driver carried the pack into my front garden which I was worried about having read some of the other reviews. He confirmed that delivery is to the front garden only and they are not allowed to enter the residence. I had a tarp handy to wrap the bundle in to keep it dry until it was assembled. Assembly took a bit of time but instructions were easy to follow. Arch is sturdy and well made, well worth the price. I'd will be purchasing another of these for my front gate entrance as soon as finances permit!

Sturdy and nice looking
Delivered on time and carried through to rear garden - professional service. Good quality product and straight forward to construct. Looks great once installed. Highly recommend.

Quality product, heavy duty timbers.
Excellent product, all the timbers are robust, the main posts 4"x4". The arches also add a nice touch. The instructions state the width of the arch but this is flexible & can be installed narrower which I did. All timber pressure treated, is some splits in the timber but this doesn't detract from the quality, it is garden furniture.

Poor quality and over priced.
This is a flat pack unit. Erecting this needs some reasonable DIY skills & tools. There are no predrilled holes so you have to do this as you go along and take some care in thinking this through to avoid misalignment. The 40mm screws supplied for attaching the top arch (after constructed) are NOT long enough to go through the post ends. You'll need at least 50mm screws, probably 60mm to be on the safe side. The whole unit is very top heavy with a high centre of gravity and will require to be either sunk into the ground or somehow stabilised at the base end, otherwise it could topple over in high winds. After one week in a combination of bright sun and occasional rainfall, I've noticed that several splits have appeared in the main posts and arches - these were not there when unpacked. These could be repaired with wood filler and repainted but the wood is meant to be pressure treated. On this evidence I have my doubts as to the long term life of the arch.
