A Game Changer For Sure!
Best decision Iโve made so far! I am absolutely thrilled with my new Garmin Edge 540 cycling computer! From the moment I started using it, I've been incredibly happy with its performance and the wealth of features it offers. It has truly revolutionized my cycling experience and significantly contributed to improving my performance on every ride. One of the greatest standout features, and something my previous unit sorely lacked, is the hill climbing feature. Knowing what's coming, how much elevation is left, and being able to pace myself accordingly has been an absolute game-changer. It's an invaluable tool for optimizing my effort and tackling climbs with a newfound strategy and confidence. This alone makes the 540 worth every penny. Before purchasing, I was aware that the Garmin Edge 540 was not a touchscreen unit like the 840, but honestly, this was not a huge issue for me. The button interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, even with gloves on, and I've found it to be incredibly responsive and reliable. The clarity of the display and the ease of use have far outweighed any desire for a touchscreen. Beyond the fantastic hill climbing feature, I've thoroughly enjoyed utilizing all the other capabilities of the 540. From precise GPS tracking and clear navigation prompts to detailed performance metrics and seamless integration with my other sensors, every feature works flawlessly. I'm constantly impressed by how much data I can access and how effectively it helps me analyze my rides and pinpoint areas for improvement. To any cyclist considering a new computer, I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend the Garmin Edge 540. If you're looking for a robust, feature-rich, and incredibly reliable device that will genuinely help you elevate your cycling performance, look no further. This is a product that delivers on all its promises and then some!

Punches way above its price โ accurate and does everything I need
Been using the Edge 540 for a few months now on my road rides and honestly it's hard to find fault with it. I went back and forth between this and the higher-end Garmin units (the 840, 1040 etc) and I'm so glad I saved the money and got this one instead. The GPS accuracy is the standout for me. Tracks are spot on, elevation data is consistent, and it locks onto satellites fast even under tree cover. Paired it with my heart rate strap and speed/cadence sensors with zero issues. Climb Pro, the maps, training stuff โ it's all here, just on a smaller screen. The button controls are a personal win too. I sweat a lot and ride in the rain sometimes, and buttons just work better than a touchscreen when your fingers are wet or you've got gloves on. Never had a mis-tap. If you're staring at the price gap between this and the bigger Garmins wondering if the premium ones are worth it โ for most of us, they're not. The 540 gives you basically the same data and accuracy for a lot less. Best budget pick in the Garmin lineup, full stop. Battery lasts my long rides no problem.

Outstanding Value for Any Cyclist
The Garmin Edge 540 offers an excellent balance of features and price. In my opinion, it has everything a cyclist needs for training and everyday riding. This is my first cycling computer, and I couldn't be happier with it. It has been incredibly helpful for all of my training sessions. It's compact, the screen is easy to read in all conditions, and the button controls make it simple and reliable to use. Even though it's no longer the newest model, it still provides everything most cyclists could ever need in a compact and durable package. I highly recommend it.

Bigger learning curve then Wahoo but it packs more features
I was so close returning this, My sensor were dropping connection, GPS would not work, my friend told me to do factory reset and it works like a charm ever since. I did a 100 mile ride the other day and the battery is still over 75%. Little harder to use since itโs more packed with features compared to Wahoo Roam, but starting to like this more and more!

Great Product from Garmin
I've been using the Garmin Edge 540 for a few weeks now, and overall, it's an impressive upgrade from my older cycling computer. The build quality is solid, and the device feels premium. The display is crisp and easy to read, even in bright sunlight, and the battery life has been excellentโlasting several long rides without issue. What I really like is the updated interface and button-only control. While some might miss the touchscreen, I find the physical buttons more reliable, especially when wearing gloves or riding in the rain. The ClimbPro feature and the improved navigation with multi-band GPS are huge pluses, offering more accurate data and better route guidance. The integration with Garmin Connect and other third-party platforms works well, and syncing is fast and reliable. I also appreciate the training and performance metrics, which help me stay on track with my fitness goals. My only real gripe is the initial setup processโit felt a bit clunky and took longer than expected to get everything dialed in. Also, for the price, I would have liked to see a mount with more versatility included in the box. Still, the Edge 540 is a powerful tool for serious cyclists and definitely worth considering. Just be ready for a small learning curve.

Bike computer proves hard to figure.
This computer seems to work OK but it is a challenge to figure out how to use it. Included instructions are not clear at all. I am sure I will figure it out sooner or later and it will end up being very useful.

Totally Useless
I'm pretty much DONE with Garmin products at this point. Out of the box, the device hangs up on the power-on screen. None of the buttons have any functionality and cannot get it off of the initial screen. The cables that come with the device are flawed as, even when plugged into my laptop, the Garmin Connect platform cannot see the device. Similarly, the pairing with my iPhone 17 doesn't work. The phone can see the device, but there's no way to interact with the device. This is a 100% straight in the trash purchase. I'm going to try a Wahoo after I return this utter piece of garbage.

Worth the price!
Fantastic computer. Big upgrade from my Edge 530. It captures my metrics better than the Edge 530 did. I wish Garmin could capture METs as a metric, but I found a back way to get that number. I primarily ride indoors and I have not tried out the GPS. It connects flawlessly with my HRM 200, cadence sensor, and speed sensor. The use of a USB-C cable is a nice change, I can use the same iPhone cable for my cycling computer that I can for my iPhone. It is easy to create indoor cycling training and it keeps track of my laps automatically vs having to click the "lap" button for my training.

Useless prouduxt. Decades out of date. Awful user experience
Why did you choose this product over others?: I believed it was the market leader and it was a best buy recommendation form a bike magazine. Shockingly badly designed software and so outdated.
