I am a total newb to sewing and this book is amazing! Can't believe how helpful it is. Its well organized and really explains the basics. Worth noting, I have ADHD--staying focused to read and staying on task can be a real challenge for me, but the colors and design of this book is also very helpful! I do better when pages are designed with segments for reading, and even better when there is color or graphics to help break it up visually. She goes through details (but not in an overwhelming way) and then summarizes it so the main points sink in. Its so great as a teaching/learning tool. The material she has included is helping me make smart choices about fabric and tools that I need to get started too. Its taken some of the guesswork away so I can save some money and set myself up to succeed. So glad I bought it! Highly recommend this for anyone new to sewing.

Oh I Love this book Its very educational and simple and not overwhelming

Got it as a gift for someone. I wish there was an index of all the materials needed to make the projects in one section to make it easier to buy all the extras. Had to shift through the pages to find them. Overall, seems like a great beginner's book

great little book. Hope my grand daughter finds time to use it in her future.

I bought this for my granddaughter as a 'first' sewing book. I like the balance between teaching the basics as well as having nice starter projects that don't 'dumb down' sewing for kids. Clear pictures, nice instruction and an easy read. After looking at a number of sewing books, I thought this was the most appropriate for a beginner without being overwhelming. Anyone could pick this up, learn the basics and start with the simple (but nice) projects and feel like they accomplished a lot in a little time. The projects start with basic skills (Your First Seam) and build from there, and are appropriate for kids without being juvenile. The book, however, is more focused on girls rather than being gender agnostic. The book also enables the development of self-confidence; I love the sections on Dealing With Mistakes, safety, etc. If someone progresses through this book, they will have a great set of basic skills that will enable them to create much more complicated projects.

This is a very well thought-out, cleverly designed book with beautifully colorful illustrations. This is a good book for begining sewers and for those with some experience. What a wonderful book this is for Mothers and daughters who both would be beginner sewers. There are many covered projects with various technics all well explained and illustrated (easy to follow). This book engaged me back to memories of much earlier years of my grandmothers' and mother's sewing machines, pins, pin cushions, needles, spools of thread, bobbins, buttons and zippers and of coarse, ironing boards. (An A+++ book)

I am very happy with my purchase. I am a new sewer and I bought this 10/18 and I inserted my first zipper into a small wallet on 10/25! I had looked at many books and videos but she presented it so simply - very grateful! Makes you want to sew.

The book has useful info. I just wish the projects included pattern paper, instead its on regular paperback pages. What am I supposed to do with that?

Un libro super bueno para los que se inician a la máquina de coser. Explicaciones claras. Se empieza desde cero patatero, haciendo una costura a máquina. Instrucciones paso a paso en lo más básico: remates, añadir cremalleras, botones, velcro, dobladillo, encarar...¡Además de ser un libro precioso! // I really recommend this books for those who have never used a sewing machine. Good and simple explanations, well illustrated. It's a beautiful books with well-worked details. It explains from scratch how to sew with your sewing maching: the first stich, hemming, adding bottons, zippers. That's your book if you start from scratch!!
