PT520A

What I Expected I thought this would be like a basic smoke detector—something that might help if I already suspected a leak, but not something I’d rely on day-to-day for my garage and RV setup. What I Got Honestly, it blew me away. As a dad with kids in the house, gas leaks are one of those things that keep you up at night, and within seconds of turning this on, it picked up a small leak I had no idea existed near my garage line. That alone made it feel like a literal lifesaver. What I Like The size is compact enough to keep in my truck or toolbox, and it’s simple to use without overthinking it. The detection is fast and sensitive, which is exactly what you want in something like this, and for the price, the value for money is hard to beat compared to relying on just a standard smoke detector. It gives real peace of mind knowing I can quickly check lines in the garage, RV, or around the house anytime. Quick tip: let it warm up properly before testing for the most accurate readings. Final Verdict Great for anyone with a garage, RV, or gas appliances—especially parents who want that extra layer of safety. What I Don’t Like Build feels decent but not heavy-duty, and I do wish there was more clarity on long-term lifespan, but overall it’s still worth every penny.

This PT520A natural gas detector does exactly what it’s supposed to do. The 17‑inch gooseneck makes it easy to reach tight spots behind dryers, and it reliably picks up gas leaks so you can pinpoint the source quickly. Straightforward, effective, and a solid tool to have on hand for safety checks.

Handy to have around the home to check for hidden leaks and so forth. Seems accurate enough for occasional use. Display is easy to read and the detector is very easy to operate as long as you follow the instructions. Made of solid materials and includes batteries and a storage case. Good quality product at a fair price, imo

Have been noticiing a gas smell from indoor registers when using HVAC in first few seconds of use. Did the usual soap tests around the furnace pipes with no result, but was smelling a faint odor of natural gas. Shut gas off and ordered this unit overnight. Device paid for itself in the first hour of use. It detected a hint of gas from register when HVAC was first blowing. Later it found a very sneaky leak in 1/2in rusty outdoor gas pipe just before the gas valve on a Goodman furnace. There was also some strong detection of gas around the top orifice on the gas manifold. This often indicates a faulty gas valve, so that will need to be replaced along with the corroded pipe. The switchable sensitivity is helpful determining a more accurate location of leak (low setting) versus a detection in the air near a leak (high setting) Fast forward 24 hours later and I replaced the gas valve (White-Rodgers 36G, another review). pipe (using Rectorseal #5 on threads) and some minor tightening of orifices. All works well and no further leaks have been detected. Would give five stars for review, but I'm deducting (half star) for one key feature I believe missing - the device could use an optional readings hold, where the highest meter reading is left active on screen until cleared. This device is near real-time only and the reading will quickly go to zero if you're not quick to read. Where you are reaching into a tight space, it may not be easy to eye your readings quick enough. Realistically its OK as there's a beep to indicate a finding, but it's helpful to know how much Couple other items to keep in mind, the unit when powered on will take approx. 20 seconds till its ready to use. Apparently it does a calibration prior to use. So keep it away from any suspected leaks till the unit is ready. Also, I just received this unit, so I haven't tested whether any parasitic battery drain occurs when not being used. I only mention as the battery door is secured with a tiny phillips screw. The unit does come with a nice carry case, so it's fairly practical to keep a small spare screw driver in the case and remove/store the batteries in the case when not in use. Overall, this tool is a keeper. 4.5/5 stars

Great device. Helped me find a propane leak on my trailer that prior to this I was unable to find. Had I not been able to locate it very likely my trailer could’ve blown up. The leak was actually underneath the trailer way in the back, but the sniffer definitely found it for me. Well worth it.

This is a well made natural gas detector I turned on a gas burner on our kitchen stove and it immediately detected gas with visual and audio I bought it to check our cast iron gas stove in our sunroom and when I turned the stove on the detector indicated no leaks anywhere This gives us peace of mind

Very good product, especially for the price-point. Easy to use and so far, sprays to be very accurate. I try to find products that are good quality and affordable; this product is both. Highly recommend for those out there seeking a good gas detector.

A relative insisted he smelled natural gas in his basement when no one else did. I got this just to confirm there was not gas lead. Low and behold, there was a leak. This detector found it quickly. There is some peace of mind knowing that if this doesn't alarm, there is no gas leak. The price is right and shipping was fairly fast.

Deze gas detector is een fijne en zeer makelijk en eenvoudige te gebruiken tester Top.

Easy to operate Very sensitive when needed And Very precise when needed

excellent tradesman quality . worth every dollar.. 👍👍100%
