MD-2

I have one of every size to fit every defensive tool in my collection. I have many holsters of many styles, but these are my favorite. They are a soft material that protects the finish on your tool. They are very comfortable for inside the waistband carry. Whatever the outside material is, it is remarkable how well it stays in place. You would think it would want to ride up or slip down, but it does very well staying in place. They are well made and have proven to be durable in real world use. I have had some of mine for a couple of years and they have held up very well. I keep my EDC in one all the time. When I go out, I just grab it from my lock box, slip it in the waist band, and away I go. I have many makes and types to choose from (Kydex, Shoulder, IWB, OWB, Hybrid) depending on the schedule for the day, but, this is my go-to most times. You can successfully wear these with shorts, sweats, etc., where you don't have a belt available to support some other type. These are much more versatile than rigid holsters which are molded to a specific make and model. Many makes and models of similar frame size and length will fit.

I read conflicting info about MD-2 vs MD-4 Mod for a Shield Plus. I bought both sizes to compare. I don't have an aftermarket rail adapter to check fitting with lights or lasers. Both will fit a Shield plus pretty well. The MD-2 only covers a portion of the rear sight, but is more snug around the trigger guard. The MD-4 Mod will cover all of the rear sight and slide, but is less snug around the trigger guard. Nearly all of the trigger guard is covered with either holster. Both holsters do not interfere with getting your middle finger under the trigger guard during the draw. In the first picture, I compared both MD-2 and MD-4 Mod with a Shield Plus w/o a laser. In the bottom row, I pressed down on the grip to check for free play inside the holster. MD-4 Mod has more free play. I expect the extra space would be filled by aftermarket adapter/lights. W/o these, I will probably put in my own stitch or staple to reduce the extra space. In the second picture, I show the size difference between the 2 holsters, the MD-4 mod being larger. The rail area has 1/8" more material on the MD-4, but the stitching is about 1/4" lower, which is why it has more wiggle room. The trigger guard area has a tiny 1/8" more material, didn't make much difference in amount of coverage of the trigger guard. And the rear slide area is about 1/2" longer, which accounts for why the MD-4 covers all of the slide. So basically, if you prefer all of the rear sight and slide to be covered (at the risk of snagging, but I didn't experience any) with a bit of looseness, choose the MD-4 or MD-4 Mod. MD-4 will likely have less looseness. If you prefer to expose part of the rear slide to avoid the possibility of snagging, choose the MD-2. I did not try the MD-1, but it looks like is the same dimension as the MD-2, but adds an extra stitch to narrow the height around the trigger guard by ~1/4". For MD-1 and MD-4, I wouldn't recommend removing the extra stitching to open up the rails area. The stitching appears to be continuous with the stitching for the nylon edge. For MD-2 and MD-4 Mod, you could add a few of your own single stitches if you ever decide you don't need the extra room.

Great holster and it is as close to a perfect fit as you can get for the Springfield XDS 3.3" 9MM. I was a little skeptical at first about this holster as it doesn't use a clip and relies on compression from a belt or the surrounding of your pocket to stay in place when drawing your weapon. Now I do feel confident in its holstering ability IWB (it is also comfortable too), but I must say that its ability to draw out of a pocket effectively depends greatly on several factors: the material of your clothing, compression of the pocket, etc. Pocket holstering is going to be a variable experience depending on your particular application. I don't think this should take away from the rating of the holster because ideally, you should be wearing what is appropriate around the gun and not fitting the gun and a particular holster to what you normally wear. With that being said, the materials are of very high quality. The holster of course has a rubbery feel to it and there is no doubt that it is more prone to getting caught and staying in place instead of sliding out of place. The inside looks to be the same material as the lining of the holster which is fine by me; I have no worries that my gun is going to be scratched up or anything. The stitching is on point. I see nothing that could even consider coming apart or loose. My only gripe about the holster really is after I've pocket holstered my SA XDS for about a couple weeks, I've noticed that the edge of the holster (where the end of the barrel/slide/sight is) is scrunched in somewhat. More than likely i'm just being a little nitpicky and this has no impact on function, but it does bother me somewhat. Also, during the first days of me using it as a pocket holster for my XDS, I did notice a very small portion of the trigger guard was exposed. To me even a little bit is a no-no, but after a couple days, the holster did "break in" and conform to the gun extremely well. Now my XDS sits perfectly fine inside the holster and the fitment could not be any better. Overall, I do recommend this holster for this gun, IWB, and some pocket carry depending on your particular application. EDIT: I now use this for my S&W Shield 9mm and it is also a great fit!!

Stays in pocket on the draw. I’ve not cleaned it once, it’s several months old, and concealed carry daily and it still sticks in pocket when unholstering. I really appreciate how lightweight it is, it isn’t bulky. I purchased several, 1 type fits several makes and models, but not doesn’t accommodate for accessories (-1 star)

I spent a lot of money on a really good kydex IWB holster but I hardly ever use it because unless I’m wearing a belt it was useless. Gym shorts, drawstring, sweatpants way too heavy to work with any of them even with just a P365. So, I had this thing a try and it works like a charm. First it’s really comfortable for appendix carry. I was worried I wouldn’t feel like it was secure, but it stays in place great. Second, I have no idea how it works but it sticks to your body, but it isn’t sticky. It’s soft to the touch. Highly recommend.

Using this with my Swith and Wesson Shield 9mm. Ordered because the INCOG holster (probably best on the market) is about a 6-8 lead time before you get it. That being said, this holster will still have a place in the rotation when the INCOG arrives. I've had it for about a month and have used it in several different scenarios. I had it tucked at the 4 o'clock position in jeans all day at a theme park, and I also frequently wear it as an appendix carry holster. Both are very comfortable. At the 4 you barely feel it and appendix is decent because its soft and bendable, so it doesn't dig into your front hip as bad a kydex holster when sitting down. I also like that I can stuff it in gym shorts, something that most holsters, including the INCOG don't work very well at. I usually wear an atheletic type of UA Boxer Jock underwear and those have enough purchase to hold it in place. Add in a drawstring from your shorts, and it isn't moving....especially at the appendix position. The height position has a little play but you obviously need enough of the holster to "stick" in the right spot to stay put. I've found that the draw is still effective even when at a very concealed depth. I live in a warm weather climate so light t-shirts and shorts are usually the only thing covering my gun. For reference, I'm a 10 year concealed carrier and tactical team firearms instructor. There is no ONE holster that is perfect for every type of carry....you should have a couple you're familiar and comfortable with. This and my (future) INCOG will be those two for me.

Let me preface by saying I have quite a bit of experience with CCW and handgun. I generally know what I'm looking for in a holster. I bought this holster as a temporary solution so I can 1) have a holster shipped Prime within 2 days for a new firearm, 2) use a holster in a non-traditional sense while in shorts or sweatpants. Sticky Holsters recommends the MD-4 GEN 1. However, this holster is less expensive and less bulky. The Glock 26 fits and stays secure with zero modifications. I carry appendix with zero discomfort (sitting, driving included). Draws are smooth. It's a tad difficult to get a good purchase on the grip of the firearm, but I believe that's due to the subcompact frame. This can be easily fixed with more practice drawing. Most of all, the holster stays in place, even after running, and the trigger guard is completely covered. I would recommend this holster. I would not use it as a primary holster but instead as a non traditional way to carry in clothing without a belt or as a vehicle holster.

It works as expected for what it is. There are tradeoffs with all holster types/models. This one has good comfort and flexibility - it can be placed in different positions, at different heights... without having to adjust clips/crews or anything. Concealment might not be great (no claw to hide the grip by pushing it into your body). Draw speed might not be great either, depending on how you wear it. Size matters, you still have to properly match the size of the holster to the size of your firearm and your usage. I chose the shorter MD-2 over the MD-4 for a Shield Plus to avoid the risk of the rear sights catching on the holster while drawing. These are good holsters for comfort and for overall safe environments, of you still want a firearm on you. Not ideal for dangerous environments when you might need a consistent fast draw.
