This was the game that made our Christmas. What a lovely present. The quality is amazing and far superior to any board game we have ever bought, nice little wooden pieces and lovely colourful board. It’s all so sturdy. The game play is really clever, quite magical and so easy yet challenging to play. There also additional rules to make it more challenging if needed. Young and old in our house loved it from age 6 to 60. It’s based on all the classic fairy tales we know and love. Every household with children need this! It’s been on my wish list for two years now as I wanted to buy it for my son but never actually did it until this year - wish I’d bought it years ago! What a treasure! One the children will remember forever.

I bought this game having read the glowing reviews and having played it, I cannot understand why people are so pleased with it. The game itself looks and feels lovely and of high quality but unfortunately the game does not live up to its image. It is long winded and dull. We have tried to play it twice and each time, have lost interest and given up! My children are 4 and 6 and love playing board games but we really found this quite boring. For context, my children also received Labyrinth this Christmas, which has been a far greater success.Edit: We made up a new version of the game which the whole family enjoys playing - to play we divide all of the cards between the number of players. If one is left over take that out of play along with the corresponding tree. All other trees are randomly placed on the board. Each player takes turns to roll the dice and moves that number of spaces, they can look under any tree they pass on their turn. If a tree matches one of their cards, they keep it. When they have collected all of their trees they need to get to the castle (finish). First person there wins. If you roll a double, you can teleport to any tree you choose.

Game with elements of different fairy tales. Nice idea. I can recommend.

Took about 20 minutes with two of us and longer with three. Was a lot of fun. Kids were screaming with joy. Scuppering someone who you see racing to the castle. First to win three treasures wins. With two players this is quite speedy so you may choose more treasures to win. Really simple. Really fun. We played twice on the first day we opened it. Kept forgetting where things were. Made incorrect guesses. Arghhh was fun. My children are 7 and 13. Even the eldest one loved it which surprised me as I thought he would be too old. He wanted to play for a third time!

Bought as a Christmas present for my two Nephews, aged 7 and 5. It didn't take long to understand the rules. Great fun was had all round. My nephews loved it that much they take it to their grandparents to play.

After reading the positive reviews I was excited to get this for my 7 year old’s birthday, who loves fairy tales and playing games. But a few turns in it unfortunately became obvious that this is not a very fun game. It’s really hard to remember where you’ve already looked, and not in a fun or exciting way, just frustrating and annoying for kids and grownups alike. It’s also too hard to land on where you want to go. We had to massively modify the rules to make it playable. I feel like they know this because of the way they wrote down a bunch of different rules you can change. They should have spent their time making sure that one way to play was really solid and fun. It’s way too long to play if you’re going by the written rules; waiting for the winner to get 3 cards would take us hours and break my brain. Also, I was mistakenly under the impression that it was a cooperative game, because it was one of the first results for cooperative games, but it is a regular one person wins game. Pretty board and pieces, good ideas, but there’s just something wonky about the execution. Try Outfoxed if you’re looking for a great board game for the 5-7 range.

Ok, this game took me by surprise. I liked it more than I thought I would. The quality--as is true of practically ALL Ravensburger games--is spectacular. I can see this lasting a long time. The detail is also amazing. It is clear that a lot of thought was put into this. The mechanics of the game were much more in depth than I thought it would be for a memory game.For those of you who do not know how the game works, I will briefly describe it. The board has 3 main areas: the town, the forest and the castle. Everyone starts in the town. You are trying to become the heir to the castle/kingdom by being the first to learn the whereabouts of 3 storybook items (Puss' boots, Rumpelstiltskin's spinning wheel etc.) and report them to the castle. The items are hidden under trees scattered about the forest. You get to move about the forest by rolling two dice. If you can land on a tree space with a combination of your two dice (or even just one die) you get to "peek" under the tree to see the treasure there. Now you have to remember all the special items you have seen hidden under the trees so that you can report its whereabouts to the castle. Now, the castle has a "deck" of eleven cards, one for each hidden item. If the top card of the deck has a hidden item that you know the location of, you make your way to the back of the castle to "report" its whereabouts. If you guess correctly where the item is hidden on the board, you get to keep the treasure and a new card is revealed. If you know the new card's whereabouts too, you can roll to guess that one as well. The winner is the one who collects 3 cards first.

The board and pieces are sturdy and well-made. The rules can be understood very quickly, and the game is as fun as it is easy to play. It has good replayability-value since no two game-layouts will be identical. My eight-year-old loves it, and since I love memory games, I love it too.

A great board game I remembered from my childhood. My wife and daughter loved the first game and we can’t stop playing. Great for developing counting skills, memory and strategy. Adaptable rules for kids makes this game easy for them to play. Takes about 20 minutes with three of us. A critically acclaimed game (it was Spiel des Jahres in the 1980s) that has stood the test of time. Can not recommend enough.
