TELLUS FX

SOG has undergone a major rebranding and it is working. This is not the same SOG, it is a new and extremely improved SOG. The Tellus FX is no exception to this, a new design that's available in a fixed blade (this one) and a folding version. I am impressed enough with this version that I will soon be getting the folder too. The sheath is also an improved redesign, the belt clip is an easy adjust type where you can adjust for regular belt carry to scout carry and almost every angle of carry in between. The knife fits in smugly with barely any wiggle, but still easily removed when you need it. Another positive is how sharp it comes right out of the box, it is extremely shaving sharp. Feels good in the hand, very good ergonomics. All of this for less than $50, crazy value. Can't wait to get my folder.

First, for the price it is fantastic. It is taller than the images convey (31mm edge to spine) So it is beefier than it looks. I have/had Esee, Becker, KBar, Cold Steel, Bradford, ect. I prefer steels like M390, CPM3V and M4 but 440C is perfectly. acceptable. For the money, this is a great knife. Feels great in hand, even better through deer skin or shooting gloves. I have ordered two more. The sheath is fine, though the clip design is a bit silly. I do my own Kydex and though not necessary, it is worthy of making a Kydex sheath for. My new budget fixed blade favorite. Only suggestion, make a classic satin blade w black scales/sheath (the gray is nice though).

Great knife. Good steel, better (more stainless) than the alternatives I was looking at for humid environments. I already had good experience with Buck 440c. It came sharp and ready to use. The sheath is good. The fancy clip is bit floppy but no issues with the screws (once I found the proper torx bit). I actually removed the clip and its mounting fixture. This way the knife and sheath are quite slim and carry well in a front pants pocket.

This knife is excellent, and feels great in the hand. The sheath is good, and the knife comes out of it with just the right amount of force. The clip "system" on the sheath is weird. Way over engineered and under manufactured. Yes, it pivots to all positions you might want, but the clip itself is too big, the gap that would slip over a belt is too large so it flops around on your waist, and the way it clips on to your belt or pack makes it a. very hard to get onto your belt, and b. very hard to get back off. It's just a bad over complicated thing that is not particularly sturdy, and hard to use. There's also a lot of plastic in the pivot materials, and I'm bound to jump into the truck and catch this on something and break it. I want to be able to edc this thing, but it's a pain the neck to put on and take off whatever I'm wearing.

I purchased this as a camping knife for general camp tasks, I've put it through some testing on my day hikes, and it functions well, I didn't notice any hotspots on my hand after use, it retained its edge and was easy to touch up with a sharpening stone after extended use. the Sheath is decent and I like the fact that it can be used ambidextrous and in multiple positions. I will probably purchase one for my son prior to my next camping trip.

This is a nice knife. Feels good in the hand, decently balanced, and sharp. The clip is a little weird and flimsy feeling. Not sure of the durability of it. It could have had spare parts. Otherwise it is nice and lightweight.

This is a real bummer of a package deal. The knife itself is excellent. It seats well into the sheath although it would be nice for the safety of however you carry this if there was some level of backing to guide the blade into the sheath. I love the heft and balance, especially for the price. Feels wonderful in the hand. The belt clip? loop? orange metal clippy? the heck is this literal nonsense that is completely useless? be prepared to buy a uticlip or something if you want to securely attach this to anything. Really like the knife, not willing to spend the extra cash to make it carry-able. Not super stoked on the color options, but that's just me.. Really sharp out of package as are most SOGs in my experience.

Super nice knife. Blade is big. The pictures are misleading because the handle is long also. Heavy thick blade but not a prohibitively heavy knife overall. Bought for camping/ packing as just a cheap knife that I can abuse without feeling bad about it. Ended up loving it. The clip is neat but definitely feels like it's the future failure point. Allows you to move to either side or clip on sideways but feels flimsy.

throw out the clip and mount any other way. it is still 5 stars with a bunk clip. i want to buy another and have no reason to.

The blade easily earns five stars. It has an excellent stonewashed finish and a sharp, consistent edge, making it particularly effective as a camp knife for food preparation. For bushcraft, its performance is only average—Scandi grinds are generally better suited for wood carving. It’s also not suitable for batoning, as the martensitic stainless steel is too hard to withstand lateral impact; the edge can chip if you try to use it like a chopping axe on hardwood. The handle is comfortable but slightly thin for extended use (over 30 minutes). Hot spots may develop, so a work glove can help. The sheath offers solid retention and protects the blade well. The main drawback is the orange UMS system with the stainless steel clip. While the concept is excellent, the included stainless Torx 8 hardware is poor quality. The bolts won’t stay tight, putting you at real risk of losing the knife. The execution of the UMS clip system is disappointing, and a design flaw like this can create unnecessary safety concerns for users.
