Excellent recovery food
My bunny needed life saving recovery food, he wouldn’t eat the regular flavour but liked the apple & banana one. Once we got the hang of the right consistency and syringe feeding it went like a dream!

Found a way for out poorly bun to eat it
Needed to feed one of our buns up as he was very poorly and lost a lot of weight. Vet sold us the aniseed one, which he did not like (nor did our healthy bun). We bought this one to try as it seemed to have been more popular with other buns. He didn’t like it. We added banana = some small success, dipped dandelion heads in it = again some success, but both methods not really long term practical nor totally effective. In desperation I added some of his usual nuggets to the mash and that was a winner! Totally ate it all up by himself! I just put some in until it was a reasonable ratio. Wanted to leave a review in the hopes this helps someone else who has a bun that needs a feed up (might work for guineas too?). Anyway hope that helps at least one bun / worried human. (Also added a photo of our other bun as she said she was fed up with it all being about him (disclaimer: she has also had lots of extras dandelions, forage and fuss, whatever she claims!))

Apple and banana flavour oxbow critical care
My guinea pigs prefer this to the aniseed flavour and I hardly ever struggle getting them to eat it. I've given if for post opp, or loss of weight, when they have diarrhea; it always helps balance their system as well as getting goodness into them. I highly recommend it, but I find this stuff is like gold dust, it sells out really quickly.

Perfect for herbivores in times of need!
Great to have on hand just in case, or if your herbivore animal is having an operation and needs a pick me up. Wouldn’t use it for reptiles however, because its for herbivores and not insectivores, vetark is the formula i’d use for reptiles. This product (oxbow) is what i’d use for hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, gerbils, rats etc. Smells like apple, hopefully taste like apple for them too! (Highly recommend purchasing a syringe to administer this!)

A necessity for guinea pigs
My guinea pig loves this. I'm currently trying to get weight onto him in preparation for dental surgery and he is unable to chew hay. This is a life saver. I don't have to syringe feeding as he will happily eat this from his bowl. Definitely something that should be in every guinea pig medical box.

Emergency kit must-have
As a rabbit owner, I always make sure to have this on hand for cases of GI stasis. I’ve needed to use this multiple times for my bunny, and it really is a lifesaver when your bunny is unable/unwilling to eat. It’s easy to mix up, and as long as you get a large enough syringe it’s fairly easy to administer. My rabbit loves all things Oxbow but doesn’t love this, I think because he associates it with force feeding. I have to hold him still and give this a little mouthful at a time, and while it’s super messy and tedious, it does what it needs to do. I would LOVE if Oxbow would sell this in smaller quantities, even single-serve packets. I tend to use fewer than five servings at a time when my rabbit has had bouts of stasis, and he needs this fewer than once a year, but the bag says to discard 30 days after opening. I have had to throw away multiple nearly-full bags of Critical Care after using just a few scoops, which is really wasteful. Tips: Make sure to put the syringe in the side of your animal’s mouth, not straight on, so they can swallow it themselves and it doesn’t get aspirated. Also, if your rabbit is not eating/pooping for 12 hours, get them to an emergency vet ASAP. If my rabbit is showing signs of stomach discomfort, I give simethicone first in case it’s gas, and this as a last resort before I call the emergency vet. There have been times when this got his stomach moving again, but if your rabbit has a blockage you don’t want to be forcing things into its stomach. I usually give it a few hours for this to help, and then it’s off to the vet. If you find your bunny needing this often, consider Oxbow’s digestive support treats. My rabbit goes crazy for those, and I really believe they are supporting his stomach health.

Must have essential for small pets
This product is great for small pets such as rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc. Amazon was the only place I could find it at the time other than a vet hospital. This product is one I always keep on hand as a guinea pig mom. I no longer go without it. It’s essential during an emergency health situation with your small pet. I’d recommend every small pet owner have some on hand!
