I have owned various electronic max/min thermometers over the past twenty years, and most were poor and flimsy, or fiddly to change the settings. This unit is sturdy and compact, a single button resets the max and min settings, and another changes from Centigrade to Fahrenheit. Apart from that it just needs a single HP7 type battery (one is provided). The display is clear, large and distinct, and it was easy to fix to the wall through the single screw hole at the top. I really like this product and was impressed that it was delivered to me in France a mere couple of days after my order, a day earlier than promised. I have bought this one to monitor the temperature changes in the new conservatory I have just finished building. I think I may get a second one for my large polytunnel but I doubt if it will stand up to the extremely humid conditions over the long term.

Clear and accurate thermometer, easy to use

Insert batteries and it works, nothing else to do except choose centigrade or fahrenheit. The thermometer sits there and records high/current and low temperatures and has a large clear display. The device has a clear button on the side that removes the high/low readings leaving the current temperature, after a few seconds new high/low data.is displayed. The data is accurate I checked it against a recording thermometer at my place of work and it is spot on. Very useful in looking at temperature variations externally (I have used mine for checking external building temperatures, e.g. utility room and garage where paints, etc.. are stored, greenhouse work and room temperatures in the house when adjusting heating systems. However, I have given only 4 stars because the device is a little delicate, I dropped a previous purchase that had been in use for about 12 months about 750mm on to a wooden shelf and it simply stopped working, inserted new batteries, etc., but it was as dead as a doornail! However, I purchased two more because they are so easy to use and the display is large and clear.

Very clear display, arrived promptly

The reviews of other max-min thermometers available through Amazon were generally extremely negative but this device, being electronic and easily readable from a distance, seemed an excellent and inexpensive choice. I was not disappointed. It arrived promptly and functioned perfectly. Reading the temperature (max, present and min) from outside the greenhouse isn't a problem. It even comes complete with a battery! Forget the others, I thoroughly recommend this one. Pity it's not currently available...

Purchased 6-10-20. Specified as an IP65 enclosure. 12-12-25 minimum digits suddenly showed blank patches, so that was a 5 year lifetime. Recommended. It was shielded in a plastic bottle with the bottom cut off and hung with a chain fed through a hole in the cap and resealed with tape. Exposure below a broad leaved hedge providing rain protection. Update. Just bought a replacement on28-12-25 as the blanks were probably moisture ingress.

This accurate plant growing thermometer has a clear readout and being larger than some can be read at distance. It is powered by two easily obtainable AA batteries. Two batteries are supplied with the thermometer. The easily accessible battery door is at the back of the one piece case. Wipe clean reset buttons are mounted at the side of the display. I like this well proportioned device, it has a solid feel and it looks right. It is robustly constructed and at £[] this thermometer represents good value. Devices of this type are very sensitive and react very quickly to change in temperature, they do need to be positioned out of direct sunlight and attached to a reasonably insulated surface. I confidently expect to get years of service from my purchase without having to squint or tap and wait for the magnet to reset in the glass capiliary. This is step forward for the greenhouse or 'growing room' user.
