I've never played the original 7 Wonders (which is 2+ players), but bought this to play with my partner - as it is a version of the original game which is specifically designed to work and function with just 2 players.I haven't previously been a big buyer of board games, but they don't come cheap. Even used on eBay/Amazon, you're going to be paying close to the new price you see here. But don't let that dissuade you. It's a good-quality game which we've continued to have fun with, even after 10+ times of playing it.You can see fantastic reviews of board games like this on YouTube if you're unsure, so I won't parrot which is already been said. However, from my perspective, as a complete newcomer to board games like this, I think it is:- Good-quality with playboard, coins, and cards (which are also aesthetically nice!)- Easy to learn. After one (or maybe two) playthroughs you'll have no issue.- Quick to play: After your initial games, you can play through this in 20-30minutes - easy.My only real gripe is that, after the first 5 or so games, the majority of them have begun to end in stalemates (which you then count up victory points). When you're both at your best, it seems far too easy to sabotage each other. Despite this, I still think it's fun (and is, frankly, the nature of card-games like this).Recommend if you're looking for an entry-level board game to play with a friend/partner. Lots of fun and decent amount of replayability to make it worth the money (they also resell on eBay/Amazon for decent rates if/when you get bored of it).

Great game for 2 players. Takes a newcomer some time to get to grips with the rules and strategy, but worth it

7WD is such a great game. Does it need this expansion? The answer is, awkwardly, "maybe".On the one hand, this adds a unique layer to the game and refreshed something I'd played over 30 times. On the other, it starts to pull away from the simple set up and simple rules of the base game. Pantheons also seem to be weighted a bit too heavily in my opinion, although not game-breakingly so.Interestingly, it seems like the creators liked the gods because it is similar to a mechanic in the LotR Duel (locations) game they released.The box is a reasonable size but the extra pieces mean I have to play on a slightly larger table.Me and my partner often switch between base game or base+pantheon, depending on mood. It's definitely not necessary to buy this but it's a nice addition to mix things up.

An absolute must have game!The game is relatively easy to pick up, but provides tonnes of replayability, strategy, and fun! There's several win conditions, and the random nature of the age set up, and wonder selection phases provide unique playthroughs, and prompt new strategies each time it is played.I've also played the Pantheon expansions, and that has equal production value, strategy and fun!

The expansions for 7 Wonders Duel are practically essential for the serious gamers. I cant imagine playing without both expansions at the same time because they allow every game to be exciting and varied. The Pantheon expansion specifically makes it possible to actually win Science and Military victories more often. Must buy!

My partner is obsessed with board games at the moment but I find games like Smallworld / Ticket to Ride etc are a bit boring for two players. Googled some good two player games and ordered this. This is a brilliant two player game. It seems complex at first but onceplayed through a couple of times its easy to get to grips with. Lots of strategy involved which might not be apparent at first. Will definitely be buying the expansions. If there's just two of you and you like card games get this.Just to clarify as a few people seem confused in the questions.This is 7 wonders "duel" not 7 wonders which is a different game with different expansion packs.Pantheon and Agora are the expansions to 7 wonders duel and not stand alone or expansions to 7 wonders the game.

Super jeu, super extension.Cette extension apporte une autre dimension au jeu DUEL qui au bout de 50 parties peut commencer à être un peu prévisible.Je recommande !

An excellent two player strategy game, feels completely fresh after dozens of matches.You take turns choosing cards to take (or sell) to add buildings to your civilization, each with its own cost, requirements and benefits. You also have access to Wonders, which you choose from a pool of options at the beginning. They require a lot of resources and the sacrifice of a normal card in exchange for powerful effects.Over three rounds, you're aiming for one of three victory conditions, while trying to stop your opponent from doing the same: military conquest, scientific advancement, or simply having the highest score based on a range of factors of the first two weren't achieved.Once you get the flow of the game and are familiar with the card's functions, gameplay is fast and the three rounds pass in no time. The cards are beautifully illustrated and manage to communicate all the information needed in simple symbols, though there are also reference guides in the box if you need clarification.I've never played the original 7 Wonders to compare, but this is a seriously well-designed and elegant strategy game. From the first card draw, you always have to balance what you want with reducing opportunities available to your opponent. There's this constant to-and-fro tension which makes the “Duel” name very apt. No system in the game is complicated, and yet the strategy that emerges from it is: surely the mark of great design.
