The Art and Science of Vedic Astrology: The Foundation Course

I first became interested in Vedic Astrology about 18 months ago, and this is one of the first books with which I began my studies. It has proven to be a wonderful reference to me as I delve deeper into the complexities of a vast science. I saw one review that said it was too basic, and it kind of made me chuckle for two reasons: first, one must begin somewhere and this book is subtitled The Foundational Course, and second, if you learn anything beyond the basics of Vedic Astrology, you will quickly learn that you have barely scratched the surface as there is so much to learn. Years of study are required to become good at understanding and constant learning will always be necessary. One book could never cover everything. It is ludicrous to think that it is possible. Aside from the wonderful basic concepts, this book is very well written with correct grammar. It is an easy read. It is much harder to read textbook style chapters when they are badly written, and that is not the case here. In this world of editor-less self-publishing, some of the books out there would never make it past the first phase of editing. This book is professionally written. I would highly recommend this book as a primer and reference for anyone interested in beginning the study of Vedic astrology.

In our new day and age we have several avenues for information. The internet is a great wealth. What I did initially to learn and familiarize myself with "Vedic" astrology was to watch several videos on the internet. Upon watching these videos I came across one of the Authors of this book and his narratives to me are based on compassion, education, and the understanding that we, the reader, are lay persons. The "science" of Vedic Astrology has many layers and to assimilate the information takes a repetitive process. I find the authors of this book to have the reader at interest. That said they are taking a very abstract and historical process and reveling with transparency to the modern day reader. I don't read for entertainment. I read for knowledge. I have begun my foundation for my desire to comprehend the Vedic science and apply it to life, living, and loving. The book is structured with professionalism. I read it in its entirety and after reading was able to return to some chapters and re-read and glean more from the words. Vedic astrology was challenging to learn and will continue to unfold in front of this reader. This book is and will help me to continue to learn. These authors have an A+ from me. Thank you. I've been a western astrologer for years now but have always had a pull towards Vedic Astrology. After some research I came across this book from a recommended Youtuber who so happens to be one of the authors. From the very first paragraph I knew this book was amazing. I couldn't put it down until I finished the entire book within 2 hours, I have so many notes and learned so much. I highly recommend this for anyone who is interested in learning Vedic Astrology and its background.

Mr. Kurczak and Mr. Fish's Art and Science of Vedic Astrology Volume 1, is a well organized, detailed compilation of astrological indications and rules necessary for a strong foundation in astrology. It is an introductory book, but I could spend a year or more integrating the knowledge it holds. I particularly enjoyed the section on the Yoga Sutras and how Yoga and Astrology relate. It has really helped me understand how the planets influence my own chart. It's a great supplement to the free Vedic Astrology Course Mr. Kurczak has posted on YouTube. Great work from two great astrologers. Looking forward to reading Volume 2!

Good book. Lots lots of information and sanskrit terminology that gets mixed up at first. If you aren't familiar with Astrology at all, especially Vedic, it might seem too overwhelming and too much of everything too quick, even it's just a foundation course. This book offers several concepts that might take time figuring out and reading the same chapter over and over again. Have some charts ready, yours for instance, applying the info to your owm chart helps you better understand what's going on and definetly take your time.

If there was ever a clear, concise, easy-to-follow book on basic and intermediate concepts of vedic astrology, this is it. All of the fluff that often comes with such books has been cut out and what you get is a wonderfully written text on the complex topic that is vedic astrology. This has become a permanent part of my home library and I anticipate referring to it often throughout my studies.
