Not bad, actually. Seems to work ok with Time Machine.
Product seems to work as described, however seems possibly slower than the Lacie it replaced. Time Machine says its going to take 12 hrs to back up my 1tb internal hard drive. Pretty bad, if this is actually the time it will take. On the other hand, once it makes the initial backup, new backups in theory will take less time. We will see. I have a drive sled with conventional drives and a SATA interface... that may be the fix, and this may get returned. Ok, 1 hr later, and now the IMac says 3 hrs to go... which is not so bad. I will add another star. It actually completed in 2-3 hrs, which is good enough, raised to 4 stars. I will update this review as I learn how the product performs. Update: Product seems to work fine, very similar to the old Lacie it replaced, just more compact. I have it working with time machine on my Mac, and it all seems to function. I will update this review to 5 stars.

Lacie D-Drive has multiple problems
Your Website only allows me to say that everything is five-star quality, when within barely over a month, the product doesn't register in the d:drive, making it useless to use. But that is a flat-out lie One buys a d-drive for reliable storage. That is what this product does not offer. I speak of LaCie Rugged Mini 5TB External Hard Drive Portable HDD โ USB 3.0 USB 2.0 Compatible, Drop Shock Dust Rain Resistant Shuttle Drive, for Mac and PC...

Iโve used Lacie drives and theyโve always been dependable for me. These small and rugged hard drives are great for large storage with minimal physical space taken up.

Poor and unreliable connection, drive failed with all files inside
I bought the LaCie Rugged 4TB because itโs marketed as durable and reliable, but the USB-C connection has been weak from the very beginning. I constantly had to adjust the cable to keep it connected. Now it has completely stopped functioning โ it just blinks endlessly and no longer shows up on my computer. All my files are stuck on it. Very disappointed, especially for a product in this price range that claims to be โrugged.โ
