Drain King VIP2 Drain Unclogging Kit With Kitchen Sink Crossbar Adapter, 1.5 to 3 Inch

I've owned my 1960s Townhome for 10 years now. The kitchen drain has always been problematic. It got better when I got rid of the garbage disposal but has always drained slowly and would occasionally clog and not drain at all. I've used all manner of chemicals (Drano, Liquid Plummer, etc,etc) on it. Sometimes the Thrift Drain Opener chemical would improve the flow as it has done in many other drains in my home. In this most recent episode of fully clogged drain I did everything I could --- power snaked it, plunged it, Thrift drain cleaner several times, tried suction it out with my powerful shop vac. NOTHING WORKED. We had standing water that would take days to drain and leave a disgusting mess in the sink. We are a household of 7. I watched endless videos online about clearing drains and almost decide to buy a pressure washer and water jet kit to clear this clogged drain. Water jetting would have definitely worked, but it would have been messy. Minimum cost to DIY is about $200 for equipment. Getting a professional plumber to water jet would be $500 to $1000. And then I came across this Drain King product on AMAZON. Watched some Youtube vids and decided it was worth a shot. No need to buy it with the sink adaptor thing. You can buy it by itself. Just make sure you choose a size appropriate for the pipe you're inserting it into. I removed J trap and all other pipes so that I could put it in the pipe that goes into the wall. The directions say insert 4 feet. This is unnecessary. I could only insert mine about 10 inches before I hit an elbow. Connect to regular garden hose, put it in the pipe, have your helper turn on the water. It expands immediately and seals the pipe. No water back flows. I ran it with water going full blast. It made some noises but not too much that I could hear. Ran it for 5 minutes --- that's a lot of water. Could hear it running and clearing the pipe. I ran up and downstairs to make sure it wasn't coming out another drain or leaking out the wall or something else catastrophic. But all was fine. After 5 minutes I shut it off checked everything again and turned it on for another 5 minutes. Took the hose back outside and reassembled all kitchen sink components. My kitchen drain ran faster than ever before. Faucet open at full blast could not create standing water in the sink. This drain has never worked so well. To be honest I was completely shocked at how easy this was to do. I was basically crying tears of joy. This effing kitchen drain has vexed me for years and years. Who knew a $12 solution existed? It was more work reassembling all the components than it was to clear the drain. No chemicals, very little effort, and so easy that my elderly mother could do it if I showed her how. This is an amazing product. I believe it works by overwhelming a blockage with water and air pressure. A lot of pressure is generated by a garden hose at full blast. Whatever was in my pipes is gone now. And if the clog comes back I will break Drain King out again confident it will amaze me. Solid 110% buy recommendation. Just make sure you can insert it fully into the pipe.

This drain unclogging kit saved me from calling a plumber! It uses water pressure to blast through clogs effectively. The rubber bladder expands to seal the pipe and creates powerful clearing action. Easy to attach to my garden hose and works on various drain sizes. Cleared my kitchen sink drain in minutes. Much better than chemical drain cleaners. Highly effective tool!

Worked fine but the adapter is kind of flimsy. Could not get a good seal using the adapter so I had to drop the trap and install the tool in the drain pipe. It worked great. After 2 minutes the clog was eliminated. Mine was cast iron rust & gunk blocking a tee fitting into the main line. Yes, the thing makes some noise. Is it horrible as some reviews state? Not at all. Better than a plunger in the applications it is intended for.

Works great. Bought this brand cuz the material is strong enough to use on pool lines. Package arrived opened when I didn’t purchase at a ‘used price ‘ But everything was there and worked

I gotta say this puppy did the job! My sister put some many days old Asian pasta, about 2 quarts down the disposal, and while it made it past to clean out, it must’ve swelled up down the lineand completely buggered the drain in the main line. I used my 25 foot snake twice and couldn’t seem to feel where was clogged.. it obviously was going through the clog and ceiling back up, coming back out with no residue on the head of the snake. So I got my hose and the one to 3 inch drain king dropped it down past the vent line and within a couple of minutes it had flushed it all the way out.. well worth the small amount of money spent.

Not sure how well it works for unclogging a drain but I was using it to try and back flush a small item that was sucked down the skimmer pipe in a pool. The way this seals the pipe is by restricting the flow of water through a small hole causing the rubber bladder to increase in size. Problem is it cuts your water pressure by 2/3. It might work fine if you have complete blockage and the pressure can build.

I had one before but it got lost. It works great I like that the tip is made of copper or brass so it don't just pop like the other ones that don't have the metal tip. Don't buy those I had one that popped first time I used it. Was on $12. Get this Drain King one works great. It's sturdy and does what it says. It fits in sinks, showers kitchen sink. You'll hear that humming noise and then swoosh it's clear. Best used if your water pressure is between 20 - 40 lbs of pressure.

Worked excellent. Thank you reviewer community since I got this idea from another reviewer who said to not bother with augers and get this. (The 22 foot auger did not work and so we were at a standstill.) I haven’t had a kitchen sink for months. This very ingenious little device did the trick! It is easy to use and fit the pipe perfectly. We bypassed the top and had to go through the air trap since the sink has three drains connecting into the main pipe. We dropped it down and ran it for a few seconds. Almost instantly there was a bit of an explosion and then it ran completely clear. It is more open now than the entire time we’ve been here. So glad I discovered this!

It worked

This works so well clears blockages and even build up in pipes. I wet shave and found due to the plumbing not being installed correctly it causes build up of my shaven facial hair and this device within seconds cleared the problem. Much better than those devices which uses a power washer
