StarTech nails it on this one!
I already purchased and returned several adapters made by other companies and I returned them all because the internet connection speed was bottlenecked while other USB devices were plugged into it and/or plugged into a power source. This StarTech adapter is legit, no bottlenecks whatsoever! Mind you I hooked this up to my cell phone, which is a Samsung S24 Ultra. As you can see from the screen shot, Speedtest(dot)net produced great results for the 1Gbit wired connection I'm on. I also had a HyperX QuadCast S – RGB USB Condenser Microphone hooked up to the adapter and switched my phone to Wi-Fi calling and turned Wi-Fi off to force calls on the wired connection via the adapter. Calls came in crystal clear and I can be heard crystal clear as well. If you have a good cell phone that supports USB devices being plugged into it, I HIGHLY recommend this adapter from StarTech. I rarely drop reviews and I know quality when I see it, and StarTech deserves their flowers for this wonderful gadget!

Works great with ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen2 (running Linux)
As promised, everything works. I recently ordered a new ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen2 from Lenovo, and ordered one of these to go with it, because while I like the Nano's small size, it only has 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports. I've tested USB 3 and 2 connectivity, the integrated gigabit NIC, the SD card slot, USB-PD and HDMI (via DP alt mode). Everything just worked as promised, no extra drivers needed. Modern Linux kernels have the "r8152" driver, which supports the Realtek NIC, and using "iperf" to test its speed consistently comes in at around 880-890 Mbps. Good job, StarTech.

Does it’s job
The product does what i got it to do very well and is reliable. One thing i would want though is another usb-c port.

Lives up to the good reviews
All the reviews I read said this was the perfect one for A/V production and they were right. No noticeable slowdowns with all the slots working.

Great piece of gear
My work laptop is amazingly thin and light...which of course means it is very short on ports. With this small light adapter, I have four pieces of equipment hooked up to my machine simultaneously. I have had none of the problems that some of the 1 and 2 star reviews talk about. It is expensive (I got mine for free), but I think it is a great product.

Generates 2.4GHz interference
I was in a place with 2.4G-only wifi the other day, was having terrible trouble connecting to the wifi from my MacBook Pro, and when it did finally connect, performance was appalling. Wifi diagnostics showed noise at -70. Couldn't figure out what the issue was, until I noticed when I touch the body of the Startech USB-C connector and the laptop at the same time, the wifi cleared up completely. So this device has a serious grounding and/or RF noise generation/interference issue bad enough to kill 2.4 wifi, and no doubt bluetooth as well, to you and those around you. I dont see any other reviews mentioning this issue, if its a design flaw, could be coincidence that no-one has experienced it, or my particular dongle is just broken somehow. Regardless, this ones going in the bin. Pity as Startech usually make good stuff rated by network engineers etc.

OK, not great.
This met my needs for the overall desire of a portable docking station, but for me, it didn't have enough USB or HDMI inserts so I haven't really need able to use it as much as I would like.
