I bought this sunscreen after having to return the Cotz Face tinted sunscreen because it was a little too dark for my ivory complexion. It goes on very smooth and blends well. It mattifies my complexion instead of leaving it shiny like most other sunscreens I've tried tend to do. It also has a primer-like effect: makeup goes on more smoothly and pores are diminished. Though it blends well, it gives my skin a slightly lighter look because of the zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide. Wearing foundation over it mutes that a bit, but I'd imagine it might be more obvious on skin tones darker than mine. The tinted version of this product is called 'Natural Skin Tone'. That sunscreen has the same consistency and primer effect as this one, but some tan color is added so it's a little like wearing a foundation or tinted primer. The manufacturer told me the two versions can be mixed together if someone finds one too light and the other too dark. I don't mind the lighter look because it's very subtle and since I like to apply sunscreen to my neck, I don't want to have to worry about color transferring to my clothing. As far as sun protection, this sunscreen works great and I love that it's chemical-free. When I wear regular chemical-based sunscreens, they end up sliding down my face, especially in warm weather and leaves my eyes red and burny. I never have that problem with Cotz sunscreens which is one of the reasons I buy this brand. It's unscented, doesn't break out my skin or irritate it even though I have sensitive skin. I'm happy to have found a sunscreen that has natural protection and makes my complexion look better at the same time.

I love this product. It goes on easily and doesn't leave a cast or shine. Makeup goes on over it nicely if you want to wear make up. Some days I just use this. I wish it came in SPF 50 , but 40 is really good too. I got my mom wearing it!

I prefer this non tinted version to the tinted version. I have used both, but I want to see where the cream goes and the tinted version blends in so well I don't even know if I applied evenly. This white version is perfect. It also has an extra plus in its UVA rating (PA++++ vs PA+++), even though the percentage of active ingredients are the same. I probably don't use the required 1/4 teaspoon when applying it to my face, so it goes on perfectly sheer without obvious white cast. I am Asian with relatively pale skin. So far after a week of daily application my skin is very calm, without any signs of breaking out. I have tried so many sunscreens and all of them broke me out after a few applications. This sunscreen is my holy grail and the only downside is the high price for such a tiny tube.

A little more than I typically spend on a sunscreen but I was looking for something that I could wear under my makeup or alone. This works for me and actually has more coverage than I expected while also lightweight. I was pleasantly surprised that the matte really does help to control shine throughout the day for me.

I discovered this sunscreen on Amazon, and am very glad I did. I have oily skin, and until I found this sunscreen, I was resigned to having a shiny or white face in order to have sun protection for my face. I love this sunscreen! It is not cheap, but a little bit goes a long way on the face. It has a matte finish-not shiny. It is excellent to use as a primer under foundation, and if my skin is clear, I am comfortable wearing it with no foundation on top. This sunscreen comes in tinted and non tinted, so be mindful which one you have in your cart if you have fair skin, as the tinted is too dark on me. Highly recommended!

I have literally tried every “mattifying” spf on the market and they all leave me immediately shiny. Except this. This is my new summertime holy grail spf for my oily skin in hot and humid weather. (In winter, I need a little more moisture so I use neutrogena hydro boost water gel with spf 25). Yes, this cotz leaves a subtle white cast, but I put it on under my foundation so that’s irrelevant. For someone with darker skin it probably would be more noticeable. I will never not have this again. LOVE

I am not sure how much other reviewers are using but I used 1/3 top for face for proper coverage and this is NOT castless. Because it is mineral untinted I did expect this, however it leaves lines of white streaks in the skin and tho matte looking, does have a "wet" touch to it. I dont wear foundation but I can't image it working well over this at proper amount. At a distance my husband says "its not to bad" but for something I use like religion, I want better than that 🤣 Pro: i have rosacea and it doesn't burn, sting, or irritate my skin at least 😁

I think the negative reviews come from persons who do not have Caucasian skin and find that it leaves a white cast. Those persons should try out one of the tinted or slightly tinted versions. As a Causation woman, this sunscreen is very matte (I never have to blot my oily skin) and it covers dark eye circles, redness and other imperfections. I get compliments on my beautiful skin which it is definitely not at all! Blackheads, redness, dark spots, dark under eye circles, you name it! It blends easily and you don’t need much to cover your face and neck. I do not need to use any foundation when I use this primer/ sunscreen. And it really lasts with no breakouts ever. Please give it a try.
