Product description Sahara Sailor versatile tri-fold trekking poles are constructed of high quality aircraft grade aluminum, to help diminish strains on joint and provide more support when you go hiking, camping or climbing. Let you get farther on the trail with less effort. Each hiking pole can be extended from 110cm to 130cm using a single flick-lock. With 3-section design, it can be fold to just 13.4 inches in length, and will easily fit into your carry-on luggage or day pack. The collapsible trekking pole equips with firm EVA foam handle, which absorbs sweat and provides all day comfort. Durable and lightweight trekking pole comes with tungsten carbide tip for rocky and uneven terrain, a rubber foot for paved surfaces and a basket for mud or snow. It’s well-suited for hiking, trail running, long distance walking and traveling. Specifications: - Aircraft grade aluminum made - Trekking pole extend from 44 - 53 inches - Comfortable ergonomic grip - Adjustable wrist-strap for more support and comfort - Comes with a rubber tip and a mud/snow basket - Approx. 9.5 ounces each Review: Compact and strong - The Sahara Sailor High-Z Trekking Pole transforms from a little 14 inch nylon bag into a 52 inch hiking machine. Actually it is adaptable to any size between 44-52 inches, and it only weighs 10 ounces. This is such an easy addition to my pack - its a no brainer considering all of the benefits and uses of a good solid trekking pole. Set up is quick (please see photo detail) and it is a positive connection with a steel cable locking in place to hold it all together. This trekking pole is sleek and durable, and holds up under my full weight. I do think a steel tension clamp would be better than plastic on the height adjustment. The grip is very comfortable, and fits in either the right or left hand. I like the wrist strap - it is adjustable and wide enough to not cut into my skin. The tip is mega grippy, and stuck through icy patches on my initial test. The rubber cover for the tip is a nice addition to the package, but could use a better, more reliable connection to the pole such as a thread or clip. Anyway, this is a nice light weight, durable, inexpensive option to put in the pack and have at the ready. Review: The quality of this hiking pole is good. - This hiking pole is really easy to handle, its light weight and portable yet durable and reliable. The manual is very easy to read and to the point. It also feels nice on the hand and you can adjust the height to your liking. I did some testing and this pole can handle being bend hard really well, however when I used force downward to kinda simulate as if I had slipped or something, the upper part slid down. So then I just tried pushing the upper part down and it still slid down, even with the flick-lock lever in place. This isn't much of a problem but it is worth noting. Overall, this is a good hiking pole for the price.

Very nice pole
Needed a second hiking pole for my boy and this one is perfect. Very light yet nice and sturdy. You can feel the metalic black finish is very well coated and the cable like wire inside the pole is strong so able to handle the wear and tear. It is compact once you take it apart and holds its position after extended and locked. From the video you can see you connect the first two section and give a little pull on third part and keep pulling up until you see the white line and pull up and down to the lock position. Same for unlock. After lock you can adjust the height with another easy lock clip. I even like the name High Z trekking "Z" as in the shape of Z when you take apart. Very well thought out product.

Does its job and does it well
I bought this to be a lightweight and small hiking pole, and occasionally to use it to help hold up a tarp shelter or similar. My biggest concern with how lightweight and small/collapsible this one is, was that it would be flimsy or cheap. That has not turned out to be the case. It works great, and although I haven't put it through any particularly rough use yet, it seems rock solid when set up, and I haven't had a single issue. Pros: Lightweight. Comes with two rubber shoes to put on the tip in case one wears out. Can be spiked into the ground if you take off the rubber shoe. Wrist strap is comfortable. Collapses really quite small. Comes with a nice carry bag. Handle is comfortable. Height is adjustable. I'm 6'0" and the max setting is about right. If you're taller, you may want to look into a longer pole. Cons: It took me a few minutes to figure out how to set it up because the instructions aren't exceptionally clear. But it's not difficult, just not really intuitive. Once you figure it out the first time it's no problem from that point forwards. It's also a little difficult to fit into the carry bag when collapsed if you leave the mud basket on the bottom. I didn't want to take that off every single time (particularly if it's covered in mud). But I can get it into the bag, just not as easily as without. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and considering buying a second one.

Now this is what I call a decent hiking pole!
Now this is what I call a decent hiking pole! Instead of the usual shock cord up the center, this pole has a strong metal cable. Not only that, the cable locks firmly into place, drawing the pole's three sections together without any need for additional fasteners that could loosen during use. The handle is well-designed and comfortable to use. The metal tip is blunt enough so that airlines would not perceive it as a lethal weapon, and the rubber tip that covers it fits firmly and comes with a spare. This is my third trekking pole purchase, and thus far it looks like the best of the lot. For my purposes, a single pole is what I use most, mainly for balance on uneven terrain or cobblestone streets, so it is nice to be able to buy one rather than a pair. I am well pleased.

You are better off finding a stick at the start of your hike!
First, there is only one in the package. Went back and looked at the post and of course they got me with the fine print... Though, I don't think that is how business should be conducted. Second, the poll is so badly constructed that the it doesn't fit together snuggly. I put my single pole away and used a stick for my hike. You are better off finding a stick at the start of your hike!

It’s a Trekking Pole!
I’m no trekking pole expert but I can tell you what I think of it. It’s really easy to use, I mean, it’s a stick but it’s pretty easy to figure out right out of the box. I didn’t have to read those pesky instructions! Pull it, twist it to the locked picture and it’s set up. Twist on the guard and pop on the cap, unclip to adjust the height and then clip it, then pull the wrist to adjust and it’s set up. I got it for all four seasons, hiking for three and trying not to be an accidental speed skater during winter. It’s a lot stronger than I thought a 3-sectional would be so I’m pretty happy about it. The handle feels a little weird but after using it a couple times I’ve gotten used to it. I wish the cap was a twist on since I walk in mud and snow, I worry I may return without it someday and I also wish the bag came with a little clip or strap so I could hang it on my belt or pack, but those are minor. I wish I bought a pair...

so I decided poles would be better this time just to be one the safe side
Normally hiking without poles (in my 30s), but had the Half Dome trip coming up and sprained my ankle a couple of weeks before, so I decided poles would be better this time just to be one the safe side. These ones are super light, folding mechanism works like a charm, had no problem with them all the way up and down (12 hrs round trip) and they certainly could carry my weight without a problem. They were actually really really helpful and I'll probably will take them on every hike that's a bit more strenuous from now on. It just lets you balance the power you need between your thighs and your upper body when going up in the steep parts. And gives you an extra hold when going downhill (started raining half way down and there were lots of steep, rocky parts), Only drawback: Lost the rubber tip of both poles sometime during the hike. Found 2 others on the way (so apparently this happens a lot with all kinds of poles), but lost those a bit later, too. To sum up: Wouldn't know what to improve about these poles. And poles in general are surprisingly great for hiking even when you are still young and healthy.
