Good xylitol is safe, beneficial to teeth & breath, and tastes identical to sugar. XyloSweet is good xylitol& I highly recommend
You may already be a xylitol consumer looking for a different brand or size, or you might not have used xylitol much (or at all) and are considering xylitol as your choice for your sweetening product. If you fall into the latter, I highly recommend xylitol as your sugar-alternative, and I highly recommend Xlear's XyloSweet xylitol. Xylitol is without question my top-pick when it comes to products I can use in place of regular table sugar, and I feel xylitol is a superior to virtually every other product of this type. Here is why: 1) SAFETY -- Xylitol is SAFE FOR PEOPLE! --- there is ZERO concern with xylitol toxicity in humans, and xylitol is actually LESS carcinogenic than normal sugar (note xylitol IS toxic to dogs) 2) GI-FRIENDLY -- Xylitol is NOT a gastrointestinal irritant, and it does NOT have a strong laxative effect like sorbitol (it still can have a laxative effect, but it is minor compared to other sugar alcohols, and the body quickly adapts with regular consumption) 3) UNIQUE DENTAL BENEFITS -- Xylitol actively strengthens teeth, may help remineralize enamel, & can help reduce dental decay (most other sugar alcohol products do not do this...they have a neutral effect rather than an actively positive one) 4) BAD BREATH CONTROL -- Xylitol can help control the bad breath that sugar causes/makes worse (xylitol has an antibacterial effect through starving bacteria: many of the bacteria linked to bad breath, which feed on sugar, are unable to feed on xylitol and die) 5) THE REAL TASTE OF --REAL-- SUGAR -- Xylitol actually tastes like sugar. I have used most every artificial sweetener around. Stevia In The Raw and some Erythritol products are pretty good, but still do not compare to xylitol. I cannot tell good xylitol apart from sugar and have not met anyone who can either. (Note that Xylitol is NOT a calorie-free sweetener. Like many other sugar-free products, it still has some calories in the form of carbohydrates, but these carbohydrates do not come from sugar. Xylitol's reduction in numerical calories compared to sugar is about a 25-35% decrease, but this does not tell the entire story because sugar's calories come from sugar, but xylitol's calories come from xylitol, and xylitol, with a glycemic index of 12, is not processed identically to sugar, with a glycemic index of around 65. Like many other sugar-free products, excessive consumption, when taken to a point that goes half-past-ridiculous, may actually contribute to weight gain...so like just about everything else, there is a need for moderation & responsible consumption.) Those are my reasons why I prefer xylitol, but is XyloSweet a good xylitol product? Not all xylitol is the same. It is produced via a few different methods & sources, and some have a taste which is closer to sugar than others. The way I rate xylitol that I consider to be good is as simple as, "does this xylitol product taste like sugar?" As for this specific XyloSweet product, I feel the answer is YES. It can be used like sugar for the most part, it has roughly the same sweetness intensity as sugar, and it tastes like sugar. (It is worth noting that Xlear's XyloSweet is made from raw materials sourced from both China and the United States--while that doesn't bother me personally, there are some makers of xylitol products using 100% US-made materials if one has a personal preference one way or another.) Value-wise, I think XyloSweet is an excellent value considering this is for 5 pounds. My only complaint with XyloSweet is that the quality of the bag it comes in is not the greatest. It's on the thinner side and the zipper lock works poorly (I advise taping/securing it off and not relying on the zipper lock only as you may wind up with xylitol granules all over your kitchen floor.) With that said, the packaging is nowhere near as important as the product itself, and I am very satisfied with Xlear's Xyla. So that's my reasoning for my preference of xylitol over other products, and why I recommend XyloSweet. The only real downside to xylitol is that it is expensive to produce and therefore expensive to buy. With that said, the safety & benefits of xylitol, plus its ability to taste identical to sugar is why I have consumed it for a very long time, why I feel the price is justifiable, and why I recommend it to others. I highly recommend giving this XyloSweet a try, as I think you will be very satisfied with the product.

Great. It has helped me with my blood sugar levels. Tastes like sugar and has no aftertaste.

Looks, feels, and tastes almost identical to regular sugar.
Having a sweet tooth and a family history of diabetes makes life tough sometimes… To make matters worse, I learned over the past several years that artificial sweeteners are really bad for you, so I had to find some good alternatives. Finally life became sweeter again when I found xylitol. It is the best sweetener for me, so far overall - sweet flavor, no bad chemicals, and without the consequences of refined sugar. And this is the second brand of pure xylitol I’ve bought and it is just as good as the first one was, but I get a lot more for my money when I buy this big 5 pound bag. It tastes sweet like sugar, although not precisely the same. It’s a little milder in taste - very sweet yet almost neutral in the flavor. I never really thought of sugar having a flavor until I compared the two. The best thing is that it has no flavor except sweetness, unlike other sweeteners like aspartame, sucralose, and even stevia - they all have odd after tastes. It looks like and has almost the same texture as sugar. Sugar is a little heavier. Sometimes the Xylosweet just doesn’t pour as easily, which I think you can tell in the video. One thing that is important to keep in mind is that it takes longer to dissolve than regular sugar. In the video I use room temperature filtered water and you can see it takes quite a bit of stirring to dissolve it. It dissolves pretty quickly in hot liquids. I use it in my coffee every morning and it does great. I had to put the bag into a big zipper bag because the zipper seal was messed up, which seems to be a common problem with a lot of food packages lately. I saved the container from a stevia/sugar blend just because it was handy, and I like to keep my xylitol in it on my counter now. So yes, it’s really Xylosweet in that little container with the green lid. ;) I have used this Xylosweet in many things - in my coffee (and I’m picky on what kind of sweetener goes into my coffee), smoothies, sweet tea, and more. I feel sure it will work just as well as the other brand xylitol I used to make a fabulous cheesecake and many other treats. :D

Good replacement to sugar
I'm not one for artificial sweeteners. I don't like the taste or after taste of them. I do like this one as a substitute for sugar in my coffee and tea tho. I drink alot of both. This sugar substitute cuts out so much sugar intake I used to have. And a bonus the dr. Is pleased too on my inproved readings.

It's sweet, but I'm cautious with use
I bought some Xylosweet because I wanted to try a homemade toothpaste recipe (I'm going through a crunchy phase). I did some internet researching on the product, and as a responsible scientist, I also checked out the peer-reviewed science articles on this relatively new addition to the sweetener market. The toothpaste recipe uses Xylitol because it claims it helps restore tooth enamel and kill plaque-causing bacteria. From what I gathered, it seems the bacteria just aren't able to effectively metabolize this sugar (just like us, which is why it's low-calorie), but the jury is still out on whether it actively restores our teeth. Anywho, a couple notes on use: 1. It is indeed very sweet. And it's a nice sweet taste unlike the chemically sweet taste I get from other sweeteners (I was never a fan of splenda). 2. The crystals are rather large. I tried to dissolve in water before mixing with the toothpaste, but most of the crystals just sat on the bottom of the mixing bowl (using about 1 part xylitol to 4 parts water). Enough had dissolved in the water, though, that it did take the bitterness away from the baking soda-based toothpaste. 3. As other reviewers mentioned, THIS IS EXTREMELY TOXIC FOR DOGS. I make treats for my pooch, and since my husband likes to help but can be clueless about these things, I wrote "POISON FOR DOGS" all over the bag so there wouldn't be any deadly accidents. 4. I like how it works in my toothpaste, but I don't think I'll be trying to eat it any time soon. I've read too many horror stories about bowel problems and don't want to test it out just yet. Remember, it's low-calorie because it just flows right through our digestive track without being absorbed, and sometimes it takes other passengers along for the ride.

Almost Too Good To Be True
Just rcvd this and several other sweeteners, and thought to share. I am doing keto, and hate to go without sweet stuff. So, I ordered (and have otherwise used) a bunch of different types of sweeteners in place of Splenda, since learning of its hidden carbs. Of all the products have tried, I LOVE this one the best. It is, in fact, so much like real sugar that I am suspicious. No cool sensation. No bitter aftertaste I tried and pretend isn't there. It just doesn't taste artificial at all. If this doesn't interrupt my ketosis, I don't know that I'll go back to real sugar ever again - it's just that good. In order of preferences, here are the other sugars I have tried, and my opinion of them. I've not cooked with all of them. I evaluated them by tasting just a dab on my fingertip, so if it was supposed to be mixed with something to cut/enhance the taste, well, that didn't happen. 1. XYLOSWEET XYLITOL NATURAL SWEETENER - see above. Also, this comes in a 2# & 5# bags, which I love. Doesn't seem to come as confectioner - sad face. 2. LAKANTO MONKFRUIT 1:1 SUGAR SUBSTITUTE - A second close to Xylo. Slight cooling on the tongue and a *barely barely barely* discernible after taste. This will be my go to if I can't immediately put my hands on the Xylo. This also seems to have as a confectioner, and in 3# bags. 3. SWERVE SWEETENERS (both confectioners & granulated) - fairly decent, but this is about where the sweeteners started slipping below that "tastes real" line. Cooled on the tongue, tasted sweet, with no aftertaste, but ... also tasted like sugar substitute, if that makes any sense. Like, if I picked up a cookie with this in it, I'd know I was eating a fake cookie. Not so with 1 & 2. PRO: confection form. 4. PYURE ORGANIC ALL-PURPOSE STEVIA SWEETENER - Bought early last year. The bag is only missing that little tiny bit I put on the tip of my finger. Yeah, so, that. Bitter - like BITING bitter. 5. PURE MONK (Julian) - Just got it the day-before yesterday. Thinking about dumping it out, rinsing the jar, and using it to hold my makeup sponges. Oh yeah - this was the most expensive of them all. So...

good taste, health benefits, OK price
Tastes like sugar! Looks & feels like sugar. It's not sugar though- take time to get used to it. Package says breads & pastries won't rise then xylitol is used, and it will not crystallize into candy with heat. Xlear makes no health claims but if you do a little research you may find some surprising benefits to xylitol. You know that sugar can lead to tooth decay, right? Well studies say that this stuff fights the germs that cause decay, bad breath and other bad stuff. It's available in nasal sprays, why isn't it in toothpaste? I can't find a lower price per pound from any other supplier. I've bought from Xlear before and never had a problem with the product. Some comments on the packaging: It comes in a heavy duty colorful ziplock bag. After pouring some out of the bag, you will not be able to zip it shut again because the crystals will clog the zipper slot. Have another container handy. The text on the bag is in both English and French. I think that my area of the USA is typical in that we have 10,000 Spanish speakers for every French speaker. Isn't that odd? But the distributor has an office in Canada where they have hundreds of French speakers. Another reviewer mentioned that some of the raw materials are from China. I think that's true of almost everything in your pharmacy. Worry about it if you like. Another reviewer worries that the source plant material is not ideal. Refining the raw plant material into xylitol is a process that removes anything identified with the original plant. Much like sugar- which comes from cane, beets, corn etc, yet it tastes nothing like corn or beets. If you are on a low carb diet, this is ideal for the occasional sweet craving. If you are not on a low carb diet, start today. Sugar and starch are killers.

This is a really nice sweetener
I have a diabetic father who I care for. He loves ice cream any time of year. I bought a Ninja Creami so that I can control the ice cream he consumes. The machine works well for our purposes. Having found the method, I needed ingredients. I have tried many of the non-nutritive sweeteners on the market and haven’t been thrilled. I like the brown sugar swerve when I need a little rich flavor. Too much is too much. I have enjoyed the Splenda baking sweetener but, now the health questions. I learned about Xylitol a while ago but really didn’t use it for reasons I don’t know. Given the latest news I pulled out the packet that I had and used it in the latest batch of ice cream. It was perfect in my strawberry recipe. None of the weird aftertaste or cooling effect that you get with other sweeteners. I like the idea that it is derived from trees and can improve dental health. I don’t have a dog so no danger there. If you haven’t used it you should give it a try. I can’t remember if I baked with it but I think you can.
