Keeps veggies and fruit fresh
These keepers are wonderful. Washed a whole head of iceberg lettuce and it stayed fresh, no red on it, right to the last leaf. It works for other greens also. Strawberries stored in the small one stay good much longer then in the clear plastic carton they come in. I didn't lose but one or two of them. Fresh carrots, washed and tops trimmed keep so well and celery, even if you cut the whole bunch in half to get it in the keeper, stays crisp until you use it up. I wash my veggies and shake the water off, pat them with white paper towel and store them in these keeps, they last a long long time. I do not wash strawberries until I use them or blueberries either. But I do inspect the strawberries before I store them, toss the ones that have bad spots or cut them out.

This is such a great money saver!
I really love this container! I initially bought it to keep my celery fresh but I’ve since used it to also keep cucumbers and romaine hearts. I read an article about how distilled water works just as well as fancy produce cleaners so what I’ll do is as soon as I get my celery home I’ll put it into this container (sometimes I have to chop a bit off the top to get it to fit) then I pour some distilled water over it. I love that the tray at the bottom keeps things from getting too soggy. Then I can rinse and repeat if I think I need to, though I always buy organic so I’m not as concerned about pesticides and just want to remove any dirt. Once I’ve done that I can put it in the fridge and any excess water can just drip off to sit under the tray. Then I just use the food right out of the container and it always is so clean and fresh! I really need to buy more. I see this as a great investment because I want to eat more produce but being 7 months pregnant I’ve had a hard time remembering to use all my produce in time, before it spoils, yet everything that’s been stored in this has never gone to waste! I want to get at least two or three more like this one for asparagus and to hold more romaine as well as the celery and cucumbers, and I’m hoping they have a size large enough to hold a large head of cabbage. Update: September 16, 2019 I bought three more of these a little bit after my initial review and I really love them. Even my husband commented on how crisp the lettuce stays when it’s been kept in one of these. I tried putting a cabbage in one of them but even with a small cabbage the best I could do was half small cabbage cut into quarters. Sadly they don’t make a good size for storing cabbage yet.

Seems to work
We live an hour from the nearest grocery store--an hour and a half to the nearest everything else. I got tired of driving so much every week for groceries and especially for produce. I couldn't get our produce to last more than week, if it would last a week at all. Oftentimes our produce would go bad before then. I bought a couple different sizes of these containers. I especially wanted the long one for zucchini. Zucchini is one of my favorite vegetables and they tend to go rubbery in the fridge by the end of the week. I was able to fit one medium zucchini, two carrots, and a package of broccolini in one of the long ones. In the large square container I kept 3 smallish heads of broccoli, in another one I kept brussels sprouts and mushrooms, and in a smaller square one I kept strawberries. I used the carrots and half of the broccolini earlier in the week, but I just used the zucchini last night, as well as a bunch of mushrooms. The produce was stored unwashed and uncut (as instructed) in these containers for 10 days after I bought them. None of the containers could fit in my crisper drawer (except the smaller strawberry container) so they were elsewhere in the fridge, but the veggies kept marvelously. They were almost just as good as the day I'd bought them. The only produce that didn't seem to do as well was the strawberries. But strawberries are never in the greatest shape where I live, so I don't really fault the container. I think they still lasted longer than they would have without it. I'm confident that these containers will be able to keep my vegetables crisp for a full two weeks. It'll be nice not to have to drive hours for produce every single week! I will likely buy more of these containers and .I think it's time to go shopping for a mini fridge to keep in the garage for extra produce!

Really works! Even on strawberries!!
We bought these after years of incredible frustration over how fast fruit, particularly strawberries, start to turn/rot. I feel like if we didn’t use a container of strawberries in the first 24-35 hours after purchasing, we would end up throwing out the fruit as it would rot so quickly. We tried several DIY tips to extend the life of our produce before purchasing these. None were particularly successful and all were more time consuming than a busy house needs. We bought a container of strawberries that we washed, dried, and put in this produce saver. Two days later, we bought a second container and cleaned the same, but did not put in the container. Two days after that, the second container was a disgusting mess of decaying strawberries that had to be thrown away, while the strawberries in the produce saver looked great. Five days for strawberries is amazing! We wanted to see how fresh they would stay, but after 6 days, they were all eaten. I’d estimate that we could have gotten another day or two out of them before needing to be tossed. I am very happy they lasted so long and I didn’t have to waste any fruit by tossing out rotten strawberries the day after I buy them. I was definitely skeptical of this set of containers, but was proved wrong. They work in extending the life and freshness of produce.

These are AWESOME! Truly EXTEND THE LIFE of berries, dill, salad - EVERYTHING!!
These really do work! I was skeptical, and I try to stay away from plastic products, but these are worth using plastic for! We get a bi-weekly CSA basket which is loaded with more veggies than we can eat right away, and this saves them! Strawberries and raspberries last about a week and a half, maybe even two weeks (don't wash them beforehand), blueberries definitely last 2+ weeks. Dill three weeks (super amazing). As for lettuce, I wash and spin it dry and didn't get to eating it for about 1.5 weeks (maybe 2 weeks) and it was still good and without getting the oxidative brown edges where it was broken off. I'm really impressed. We have large, medium and smaller size... use large and medium the most, small is a bit small. A must for people with busy lives and intentions to cook a lot, but sometimes life gets in the way of getting dinner on the table and that's when these containers are great as you can make your produce last much longer! And since it's not oxidizing it also doesn't get bitter tasting (fresh produce starts to get bitter as it ages). Love this product! Only negative is that the large ones do take up a fair amount of shelf space, but at least they are rectangular and not round. PS. Thinking of getting produce drawer liners that also help with oxidation, there were some on Amazon, can't recall the brand.

Ecofriendly and my Produce Lasts so much Longer!!
I never thought I’d be raving about a plastic container but here I am. I originally bought them to store vegetables but I’ve also started to pack my lunch in them. They work so well. Basically, there’s a floating bottom that prevents the food from sitting in moisture, which keeps it from going bad. There are also vents at the top. 1.) There are multiple sizes available. I recommend getting the 11.1 cup if you plan on storing things like lettuce, fruits, etc. a. The 17-cup size is great if you want to use it for groceries. I take it with me to the store and it’s a whole lot better than using plastic baggies. It’s never to late to adopt a greener lifestyle and I highly recommend it - not to sound preachy but whenever there’s a simple “greener” alternative product I’m usually willing to try it. That’s how I found out about silicone sandwich bags and Swedish dishcloths (both of which I’d definitely recommend checking out). 2.) The container really isn’t that expensive. If I remember correctly…mine costed around $8, which isn’t all that different compared to others that you can get in stores and they don’t keep your food fresh like these ones. 3.) I’ve completely stopped using plastic bags for my groceries. I pack them in these containers instead and they almost always last longer than their “best by” dates. Less food waste = good. 4.) The lid isn’t flat like a regular plastic container so you can actually fit more inside without having to worry about squishing anything. a. Keep in mind however that you won’t be able to fit larger size items such as apples and melons unless you cut them, which I wouldn’t recommend. Avoid overfilling it as that can affect the airflow. 5.) They stack well. I have six of them and when they’re not in use, I have them stacked up in the kitchen cupboard. A great way to keep them nice and organized. 6.) You can label the containers with a dry-erase marker, which is what I do. It washes off easily every time with just a bit of soap and water. 7.) Remember you don’t have to wash the food before you put them in the container. The whole point is to prevent moisture from building up which speeds up spoilage. Only wash whatever’s inside when you’re about to eat them! 8.) They’re easy to clean, rinse them with soapy water like you would do with any other plastic container. Don’t forget to rinse out the perforated tray at the bottom as well. a. Speaking of the tray you never want to take it out if you’re using the container. It’s an essential part that prevents the item from sitting in settled condensation aka it prevents it from going bad. b. You won’t be able to buy a tray replacement without having to buy a completely new container so make sure that you don’t break or lose it. 9.) The plastic is very sturdy, I’ve dropped it accidentally on the ground but it still looks like new. Contents are also protected. a. It’s also very clear and easy to see through so you can check on your produce easily without having to actually open the container. I hope this review has helped you. Definitely get it if you want to increase the longevity of your produce! You’ll thank me later.

... a plastic container but this produce saver is absolutely amazing! I read a raving review about these online ...
I've never thought I'd ever get so excited about a plastic container but this produce saver is absolutely amazing! I read a raving review about these online (can't remember where) so I looked it up and saw how high the rating was. It sounds gimmicky, like it's too good to be true, but these actually work. I'm always throwing out mesculin mix, baby spinach, and strawberries because they go bad. I decided to get two large and one medium container. Large is the right size for a big family pack amount of organic mesculin mix that's been packed down. It still stays fresh even when crammed in a bit. I went from buying every week and having it wilt/start to go bad by about half way through the week to buying every three weeks and only tossing the occasional leaf that starts to go bad. This thing already paid for itself in a month and I am tossing less food in the process. I try to avoid plastics but this is one exception that's worth making. I wash by hand to avoid the clear plastic becoming dingy and cloudy over time and after a few months they still look good as new.

Less impressed than I thought I'd be -- only seeing minimal impact of using them.
I use a lot of various berries for smoothies and have always been frustrated with the short shelf life, so I gave these a try. I did not do any experiment, like I see some reviewers did, which was impressive, so my impressions are just that -- impressions. What I found is that the FreshWorks do help to a certain limited degree, but not by much. Maybe they give me one or possibly two extra days at most, but definitely no more than that compared to just leaving them in the containers they come in. I've also tried using the perforated plastic bags and my experience is that they work just as well as these. Before trying these bins, i had taken to using a strip of paper towel inside the berry containers to absorb some of the moisture, which does seem to help, so I tried adding a piece to these under the green platform at the bottom. That also helped these to extend the freshness an extra day. When I bought these, I had high hopes for them and thought I would buy kits as gifts, but I can't see nearly enough impact to consider doing that after using them for a couple of months. One thing that does occur to me when re-reading some of the reviews of this product is that certain refrigerators may well be significantly better at keeping produce usable than others. I started thinking that mine, even though it is fairly new and a 'premium' brand that maybe it is one of the refrigerators that do not do a good job at this.

Great design- keeps fruit and veggies fresh for a long time.
These Rubbermaid containers are fabulous! They come in several different sizes for storage of berries up to full heads of lettuce. I use them mostly to store berries, and they will keep raspberries for 10 days or more. Blueberries have stayed fresh for over 2 weeks. They stack for easy storage or as a space saver in your fridge. Since I found these containers, they are all I use for my fresh berries.

Super
Produit simple mais très efficace. J'achète des paquets d'épinards pré-lavés qui autrement pourissent complètement au bout de quelques jours mais dans cette boite ils durent 2-3 fois plus longtemps.

Hands down the greatest kitchen product I have ever purchased
Hands down the greatest kitchen product I have ever purchased. Strawberries used to go off in 2-3 days, they lasted TEN DAYS in this, and probably longer but by then we had eaten them all! Has paid itself off, can buy bulk strawberries and use them all so no food wastage. Fits 600g strawberries. I recommend this to anyone and everyone. Prior to this I was replacing punnets every three days so the money saved is great. Delivered within two week and to the U.K. So much earlier than the month expected.
