Product description CD > POPULAR MUSIC > ITALIAN desertcart.com Every good pop collection has that one moment, that shimmering, seamless mix of voice, rhythm and melody, that reflects--and often transcends--the colors and styles of the entire package. On 9, the first studio album in three years from Italian singer Eros Ramazzotti, its "No Te Prometo Nada" ("I Dont Promise You Anything"), a bittersweet ballad that finds the singer exposing his flawed heart to his lover. This is a hushed, affecting moment. Much of the rest of 9 finds Ramazzotti in pleasantly familiar territory, his nasal delivery distinguishing pop ditties such as "Un Segundo De Paz" and "Piedra Pequena." Some of the silky production sheen of past efforts has been traded in for more acoustic instrumentation; coupled with Ramazzottis heartfelt interpretations, the result is a more intimate feel. Make no mistake, though: Ramazzotti is a pop singer by definition. And when its done this expertly, theres absolutely nothing wrong with that. --Joey Guerra Review: Eros at his best - To this day I still consider “9” the best álbum Eros Ramazzotti has ever recorded. Sure, later albums have also been good but not at this level. With “9” Eros delivered an exceptional piece of work. Maybe It’s because the difficult moment he was living at the time (mother’s death and divorce) and because sometimes we let the best of us out when facing the most difficult moments in our lives. Another thing is that even with his music, when an album is released there are 2 or 3 songs I don’t like. That’s normal but not this time. I liked every single song, obviously some more than others but every single song had the mix between perfect melody and poetic lyrics. However, there are three songs that stand out and I still consider “true classics”. 1. “Una emoción para siempre” / “Un’emozione per sempre”: I consider myself a melancholic and this song is one of the best ways to describe that feeling. Eros sings about two people who love each other but for some reason one of them is leaving. This is not a bitter song but a song about two mature people that understand that sometimes separation is inevitable. True poetry in its chorus: “Love gives you an emotion that will last forever, moments that will stay with you eternally in your mind”. 2. “Piedra Pequeña” / “Piccola Pietra”: Like “Fabula” / “Favola” this song is also based on a book and at the end, Eros is able to deliver a short story just with this song. For some people, this is just another love song but it is not. In the middle of a war, a mysterious man suddenly appears and a woman falls in love with him. We don’t know for sure but he might be a soldier who also falls in love with her. Because life is unfair, we learned he has to leave her behind and follow his path but he will carry always a small stone to build peace where there isn’t. If you haven’t watched the live version of this song from “Eros Roma Live”, you should. It’s real proof Eros is not only a musician but a true poet. 3. “Sólo Ayer” / “Solo Ieri”: If there’s an autobiographic song about Eros, it’s this one. Eros was in the middle of his divorce when he wrote this song which, for me, is likely the best he has ever written. This song could not only be applied to a separation but to any circumstance in life where huge changes come to us. Eros recognizes we all need to cry to grow more and in the chorus he sings true poetry saying that life will not end there, he’ll reinvent his life and he’ll find someone / something else and he’ll be reborn. He delivers powerful lyrics that move anyone, the future will come and he won’t give up. This song has been with me always when a hard moment hits because as it says “It won’t end here because I see in front of me a little bit of light”. Review: One of the Best Italian Albums Ever - This is one of the best Italian CDs I've ever listened to. No kidding. Eros Ramazzotti has such a distinctive voice; it may take you a while to like his voice if you've never listened to his music before. It's a bit nasal (in a good way), yet he manages to sing every word as clearly as day. His vocals are amazing and fit the genre quite well. Trust me when I say that if you like Italian pop in general, you'll like 9. Tracks I'd recommend are: 1) Un Attimo di Pace (A Moment of Peace) - It's upbeat yet is full of emotions including happiness and longing. 3) Un'Emozione Per Sempre (An Emotion Forever) - Simply beautiful, and its title fits it perfectly. 4) Mamarà - It has a Caribbean-type feel; quite enjoyable. After this album, you'll definitely want to check out his other ones. I'd suggest his self-titled one and 'Tutte Storie.' Forza Eros!

FABULOUS!
This was the first Eros album I purchased and it's more than fabulous. Not one bad song, as another reviewer mentioned. First heard this in Spain and couldn't stop thinking about it. Asked the tour driver for the name of the album so I could buy it when we got to Italy. That was the first thing I did. Imagine, I went into a record store and asked for an album called "eight." They figured it out, though. Played the first CD so much it gave out on me. I ordered another one after a year or so and it's just as good as I remember. The World Tour 2009-2010 album is also fabulous! I'm going to buy a different one now. Guess I was Italian in a former life.

Eros at his best!! Simply stupendous! 🎶
This is probably his best album. Most of the songs are unique and simply beautiful. I can listen to most of these songs every day and never get bored. He's got lots of good albums but this is definitely one of his best, if not his best one. Just buy it; you won't regret it. 🇮🇹

One of his better albums
I bought this album after first hearing it in 2003 when it first came out on a trip to Italy. After seven years it still sounds fresh with some catchy songs, and hasn't dated as much as his other albums. I think it is better than some of his more recent stuff too. For me it was very nice reminder of my first trip to Italy. Listen to some songs before you buy to see if it to your taste. Per di più, ascoltare quest'album mi ha aiutato migliorarmi in italiano. :)

Bravo Eros!
I'm an italian american and am a musician...i've been listening to eros ever since he came out and he really comes out with amazing albums...i wouldn't say this is his best work, but its damn close...too bad that america doesn't really know about him, because he is some artist...i personally think he is Italy's # 1 artist...his melodies, arrangements, voice and that bluesy eros feel is a pleasure to listen to even if you don't understand Italian...i had a chance to meet him at a show in the states, and he was very cool...He makes me feel proud to be Italian...Bocelli is also a great artist but eros will take him overall...if there was an artist that i could play with, eros would definitely be one of them...

Excellent music
Interestingly, the CD was sold by a Dutch store, came from a warehouse in the Czech Republic, and was shipped via plane from an airport in France. Anyway, the music on this CD is amazing. There's obviously no doubting of sound quality, due to the medium, but the way it was created gives you eargasms. Eros' style is fantastic here. If wondering which of Eros' CDs to buy, this is definitely one of the top three.

I have to say that I have followed Eros now for over 10 years, despite not speaking or understanding Italian. Every new album shows more maturity and he just gets better. I thought his previous album (Stile Libero) was by far his finest work. And now, we have "9". What do I think? The album is excellent. It has more romantic ballads than most of his albums. Each song is typically polished, reassuringly romantic and with his distinct voice, beautifully sung. If you are new to the European pop phenomenen otherwise known as Eros Ramazzotti, then 9 will give you an introduction to his style. However, a better introduction would be the 1997 "Eros" (greatest hits) album, If you are looking for those Eros trademark polished ballads, and up-tempo exquisitely finished Italian pop tunes, then this album will not let you down. Just snuggle down with the one you love, and have this album playing. Sigh... heaven.
