This book is a great journey through the life of King of David, one of Scripture’s most iconic individual. J.S. Park’s poetic commentary is a good company as you reflect on David’s circumstances as he navigates through the difficult terrain of life. One cannot help but to relate on David’s psyche, and have a deeper understanding on what it means to be human. We are all Davids, and this book is sure to expound on that. It was a great honor to have read through David’s life in a poetic sense — he is a poet himself after all. This book left its mark on me and I hope it does the same for you.

Are you struggling? Have you failed? Well, this book will assure you that you are normal...and you are not alone. ;) I've always been a King David fan. He's my ultimate crush from the Old Testament. I guess, that's because I've always heard from sermons about his humble shepherd beginning to defeating-Goliath fame. But this book is not all about that alone...this book by (awesome!!) J.S. Park is about King David's entire journey including his bigtime fall into adultery with Bathsheba and so many instances of his failures. But after reading this book, instead of getting 'turned-off', I ended up admiring King David even more...maybe because I can identify with him in his struggles and failures. To me, J.S. Park wrote this book with consciousness of his own failures and brokenness and of the Truth that only God's Grace can sustain us. Just like the other reader's comment, J.S. Park communicates to people not from a have-figured-it-all-out perspective but from a perspective of someone who constantly needs Grace, constantly needs Jesus. This book, just like King David's life, is filled with wisdom useful for different areas of our lives and relationships. My heart was a little crushed towards the end though but it's the part of the book that struck me the most. It made me want to pour my life upon Jesus' feet. (Read and see if you'll feel the same, too.) I got a free digital copy of this book but I ordered for the hard copy cos I will read this again and again...and will surely get this as a gift for my both unbeliever and believer friends.

Great insight into the life of David. This was a thoughtful study of a life that has been characterized in so many ways. This book helps bring humanity to a biblical figure that was know as a man after God’s own heart. Well done!

I can't tell you how many times I've read the story of David, but never have I read the story like I have in this book. J.S. Park has a way of bringing a completely new perspective on everything. He brings David to a whole new level and makes him relatable. I've never considered the feelings of David before as an actual person just like me. I mean sure, I've read the Psalms, but it's so hard to imagine him as a real living being. I almost felt sorry for him. My heart ached. This was beautifully written. Raw and vulnerable. Emotions stirred in me. I'll never read the story of David the same way again.

One of the most amazing and relatable books that I have ever read. I grew up reading through the books of history in the Bible that told of all the stories and adventures of all the different kings of Israel and the war-ridden land, but I never really understood the personal significance behind the story of one of the great kings of Israel, David. J.S. Park's "The Life of King David" is an amazing combination of narrative and truth-speaking that captures the David in all of us, from the lowly shepherd boy to the great king to the broken person inside; the insights that J.S. Park has about King David's life and the parallels to our own was something that definitely personally impacted me as I began to see myself, and the aspirations I had for myself as I read chapter to chapter. Super thankful for the wisdom in this book, as it pointed me towards many truths that I had yet to claim about who God is, who I am, and who I strive to be in light of who God is. Definitely an superbly insightful read that I recommend to all! Thanks Pastor J.S. for your words!

I bought this book thinking I was going to read about King David. My impression was that it was more about the author than the title. I was disappointed and except that he had struggles in his young life. Isn't that what life is about? We all learn from our mistakes and go from there and I am glad he did that. The title is very misleading.

I love the writer's understanding and truthfulness about himself and I really relate to every thing he has to offer in this book. I got this book for the history of King David but after the first chapter I was hooked. I can state that learning more about myself in this book was great and much more needed reviewed in my life. Thank You so much for writing this book and I look forward to read more.

This book made me cry in a good way. J.S Park has a way with words and should write a novel! Great insight and so many times I had to stop reading just to digest what he had written. Funny in places, down to earth and sheds a light on David's life and times in a way I have not heard or read anywhere else.

Gives a honest opinion of the life David would have lived. True words said as we continue to make the same mistakes he made, but at the same time learning from his heart. A man after Gods own heart !!! Excellent book
