Better in person! Love the size of the numbers. Very pretty.

This is a very attractive clock. It seems to be quite well made, and It is a nice size - bigger than the norm, and the large numbers are very easy to see across the room. The band of brushed nickel-looking color really gives it a nice touch, and matches my new lights and fixtures. However, although the hour and minute hands appear to be black in the listing, they are actually also a brushed nickel-like color. At night, when the daylight is gone, the reflection of the electric lights renders the hands completely invisible from the normal viewing angle. So, at night I have to get up and look at the clock from a very side angle, or at the additional table clock I purchased because of this problem. I never had trouble seeing my old clock (that finally died!) which was hung on the wall in the same spot. I might also add that when we first set it up, the clock did not keep accurate time. It kept falling behind. My husband called the technical phone number, and the technician suggested he try a different battery (even though the one we had used was brand new). Please don't ask me why, but the clock has kept accurate time ever since with the second battery installed. It has been accurate for weeks!!!

The Howard Miller Kalvin Wall Clock #625-418 is even more attractive in person than online photos. I've only had it less than a week, but so far it's keeping good time. The ticking is ever so slight - no bother at all. It looks gorgeous in our living room. I am impressed with the Howard Miller quality, and would definitely buy this brand of clock again.

It’s basically a standard single AA battery operated clock in an attractive, but all plastic clock. The frame is made of wood-look plastic, it isn’t a sweeping second hand, and I am using it in a bathroom and steam is getting under the clear face and the noise from the ticking is exaggerated by the small room and bathroom acoustics. If and when this clock fails, I will not be buying this again.

My wife and I really like this clock. Although it has a quiet quartz movement, the second hand ticks as it moves around the clock face. The soft ticking sound is very relaxing.The ticking can only be heard when the room is very quiet (i.e. no talking or TV). It reminds me of my visits to grandma's. The clock in her kitchen quietly ticked to the smell of her kuchen and other delicious creations. The clock face is large enough to be easily seen from over 25 feet.

I ordered this clock for my son who had just moved into a new home. The appearance of the clock was the color and style he liked. Even though the clock is acrylic, the outer part looks like real wood. It is very attractive and the size of the clock makes it very easy to read the time. It is keeping time accurately and my son is very happy with it. After seeing it in person, I would order it again.

This clock ticks and you will hear it well in a quiet room. If the ticking bothers you, this clock is not for you. However, I do not care about having a second hand. I opened the clock and pulled off the second hand and amazingly the ticking stopped. I wasn't expecting that and it saved me from changing the whole mechanism. These clocks are called fit ups which basically means that it is fully assembled in China and Howard Clock does not make or support mechanism replacements. Also, there is no wood finish, it is plastic. The clock does keep good time though.

I bought this clock for $59 thinking it would be a very well made clock. It is super cheaply made plastic. It stopped working after two months. Amazon will not accept returns after a month so I’m out fo $59. I’ve contacted the company but haven’t heard back yet. Hopefully they will make good on this purchase. I’m starting to have a lot of problems with buying things on Amazon.
