Well worth the price
This is a very nice addition to my small work space. I had to re-imagine how I wanted the space to work as it turns out that you have a MUCH better chance of finding something that works if you actually measure your space. Imagine that! Mu husband said "you know, you must have thought that the interior measurements were the whole size!" I thought, he thinks I measure! how sweet <3 That having been said, it's a lovely piece of furniture. It's sturdy and actually quite heavy (it took 2 of us to move it). It was easily assembled, but you have to have an eye for detail (luckily, hubby does) He put it together in stages and did a wonderful job. So far, I've moved it 4 times, but I'm hoping it stays in this configuration at least long enough for me to actually hang some files in it. A note on the color in the color in the pictures, I purchased the Espresso Oak, and the cabinet looks it. It's a deep, rich color, that's hard to capture in pictures. I'm a huge fan of black, so your mileage may vary. If you're into things like that, the color is a warmer black, not ashy. The pic shows some red tones and that's got to be the low light I took the pic in. In person, there are no red tones. One thing I didn't like, the drawer pulls are plastic-y and don't feel good in your hand, I'll probably look to exchange them for something actually made of metal. Shipping was quick, everything was intact, no damage to the piece in transit.

Beautiful Cabinet
I purchased this Bush filing cabinet after searching a long time for a filing cabinet that looks like a piece of furniture. This fits the bill perfectly! The almost wordless instructions for assembly intimated me at first, but being a female with little assembly experience, I have to say the assembly went quite well for me. While I built it myself, there are certain steps that they suggest a second person's assistance. With this being said, it is helpful to build it in the room in which you are placing it because it is wood, and it is heavy. Each step is specific and the company is more than willing to assist with explaining the assembly, or with missing parts. I would recommend checking that all parts have been shipped, as I was short a few screws (haha) and one other minor part. When I called, the customer service was top notch and I had the few missing parts within a few days. The only drawback in my eyes is that I wish it had at least one locking drawer, but other than that, it is perfect!

Nice filing cabinet to go with the desk!
I chose this filing cabinet to go along with the desk I purchased, and also extend the desktop area. It was not very difficult to assemble with the instructions included. I like that it has a latch system that makes sure only one drawer is opened at a time! My printer fits perfectly on top. It's a nice filing cabinet for the price!

Pretty good - would buy again
Great looking--looks more like furniture than a filing cabinet. It is close to the brown-black bedroom furniture from Ikea--not identical but close enough that it blends. The box arrived pretty beat up, but there was no damages to any of the pieces. Quality is typical for this type of particle-board/MDF furniture. All of the holes lined up except for one, and that one was only slightly off so it required just a bit of widening with a screwdriver. I wanted something sturdy and relatively permanent, so I took the time to add construction adhesive to all the joints and connection points. I plan to put a flat screen TV on top, and it will support the weight with no problem. The mechanism to allow only one drawer at a time to open is pretty simple, and it works. It would not stand up to a lot of force, but that's not its purpose. There's no detente when the drawers are closed, and they do seem to have a tendency to come open. That's probably more an issue with my floors being level rather than an issue with the cabinet. I expect a couple of small shims under the front of the cabinet will remedy this. The handles are shiny plastic and pretty awful, but I bought solid brushed nickel ones at Home Depot for $4 each. It was well worth the trouble to replace them because it makes a big difference. Cabinet handles come in different widths; purchase the ones that are 96 MM (4 3/4 inches) between screws. I did have to add a few washers to the inside of the drawer because the screws with the new handles were a little long, Spend an extra buck and get a few washers just in case. The bottoms of the drawers are fiberboard and won't hold a lot of weight. However, that's okay because the cabinet is intended for hanging files, so the weight is distributed on the rails at the top of the drawers. Legal files fit laterally from side to side. There are also bars to hang two rows of letter size files front-to-back. All rails are plastic, but they seem like they are strong enough. I do wish the cabinet had a lock, but I knew it did not have before I purchased.

Solid and Stylish Storage Solution
This lateral file looks great in our home office and provides plenty of space for organizing paperwork. The finish is rich and elegant, and the drawers glide smoothly. Assembly takes a little time, but the result is worth it. Perfect for anyone who wants both function and style.

Nice appearance, crappy hardware
My wife needed a lateral file, something that would do double duty as a TV stand and a filing cabinet. She wanted a dark wood finish to match other pieces in the office. We looked at various options at the local office supply stores, but the only choices were really cheap and flimsy Sauder-brand furniture or an expensive very utilitarian-looking metal filing cabinet. We saw some other styles of Bush furniture and I've had some in the past that was fairly solid, so I took a chance and ordered this online. Since there were no other reviews, I didn't know what to expect. The package arrived earlier than expected and was well packaged with extra cardboard on the corners to prevent damage. In fact, no pieces were damaged or scratched. The package weighs over 80 lb. and needs two people to move. Instructions were well illustrated and clearly written. Pieces that needed to be labeled were clearly labeled. All the fasteners came in labeled bags. This item would have received 5 stars except for a few things: 1. The pre-drilled holes weren't cleanly bored and screw holes weren't deep enough resulting in some alignment issues during assembly. Some pre-drilled holes were too big and screws wouldn't hold. For some parts, I had to use my own screws and drill new holes to ensure a strong connection. 2. The hardware with the exception of the drawer slides were crap. The RTA cam-locks didn't fully engage so I couldn't tell if I had turned the cam far enough. The small screws used to fasten nearly everything from the drawer slides to the edging for hanging folders were junk. I don't have a lot of forearm strength, but the screw heads kept twisting off. It might have been because the holes weren't drilled deep enough, but even when they were, the heads still popped off. Now I worry that the drawer slides may eventually fall off. 3. Because the holes weren't drilled properly, when inserting the screws, the vinyl laminate would pucker and the pieces wouldn't mate properly. There would be a substantial gap between the pieces. 4. The drawer handles look like metal, but they're actually chromed plastic. Very cheap feeling. The hanging rails are all plastic. Also very cheap. Not sure if they'll support a full load of file folders 5. The safety mechanism to prevent both drawers from being opened at once (to prevent a tip-over) doesn't work very smoothly. The Bush furniture I used to have was much better. For the price, I expect more and would have liked more metal components and better hardware. The instructions say that the drawers will hold 60 lb. each and the top will hold 200 lb. The finish looks nice and the edges look like they should be durable enough, but we will see. All in all, it's just okay.

Very poor quality
I am amending my previous review. After just a couple of months of light use, this cabinet is falling apart! Overall, it is wobbly. The bottom drawer fell apart at the corner joint. The security latches that prevent both drawers from opening simultaneously don't work. I will update my review again after I pursue a refund. This was a waste of my money and recommend that you don't waste yours. Overall, this cabinet is good, serves my needs and blends in with my other furniture. It arrived quickly and in good condition. I didn't rate it higher because it arrived with missing screws; some screws broke during assembly; the "metallic" handles are made of plastic and there are minor alignment issues. Also, there is no weighted bottom to prevent it from tipping -- just a molding strip across the front. The instructions are very basic illustrations; more details are needed. I'm very handy and it still took me a while to assemble. At this price, I expected more. I purchased this cabinet to match furniture from IKEA that is now discontinued. My comparable IKEA file cabinet was slightly less expensive, has higher quality hardware, is made of thicker, sturdier fiber board panels, and rests on a weighted base. Given the circumstances, the Bush Cabot File was my best option but I wouldn't buy from this manufacturer again. FYI - with some minor adjustments, it is possible to store one long row of letter files across/side facing, which is what I wanted.

Beautiful furniture. Lots of pieces but worth it in the end - huge cost savings. Need two people for some of the assembly.
Beautiful furniture - everyone gushes over how nice it looks. No one would believe it arrived as 5,000 pieces in a box (slight exaggeration). Drawers are wonderful - open and close so smoothly. Safety locks work well. I bought two of the 2-drawer lateral files, two cube bookcases and the L-shaped desk. I put the bookcases on top of two of the lateral files and it looks fantastic (fastened the book cases to the wall). Has really transformed my home office into a beautiful space. Back to the 5,000 pieces - there were A LOT of pieces to put together. It was a bit daunting considering I ordered six pieces of furniture. The instructions are very good - just take your time and read carefully. The beginning of the instruction book says two people is recommended for the assembly. No way - two people are a must - there is no way one person could do this without a great amount of frustration. What I did was to do all of the prep work myself then called in my father to help hold pieces together while I completed the assembly. I highly recommend this furniture.

Nice looking product
I was actually expecting a full lateral cabinet, however, the drawers are only 1/2 lateral and 1/2 a smaller size. Notwithstanding, still a very nice looking item.

Nice ... really like the grey finish but needs better handles
Really like this unit. Easy to put together and quality is good. Two reasons why I did not give it a 5 star 1. You can still see the hardware a bit on the sides ... I tried adjusting but just a bit 2. The handles they gave were plastic and very cheep... I went and bought some Other handles... but there is a part for the folder that I had to remove and put back on to change the handles. Other than that this is nice unit
