its good on old stains oil and blood , but not tried it on mud and never on silk .

How long it takes to dry? If spray in the morning will I be able to use the mattress at night on that same day?

I did two double beds in the morning and kept the heating on all day and by evening, both beds were dry. You only spray the area that is marked though not the whole mattress - I found it to be an excellent product too.
