Review: This text is consisted of 120 pages and two chapters: in which the author shows how a mid-range PLC such as SIMATIC S7-300 PLC can be used to implement a temperature controller using the PID algorithm. Chapter 1, is devoted to development of the main circuit program for S7-300 PLC which when it is executed, it controls the temperature of the water in a tank. Text also shows how the control software can establish a communication path with two HMI devices to show all related process data on either a PC's monitor or a standalone HMI device. Chapter 2 is devoted to explain how the main control program (pid.s7p) works. The most important part of the control program is explained completely using images of the networks/ instructions copied from the main control program step by step. The text does an excellent job when it comes to explaining how to generate a control PLC program to implement a complex functionality such as a PID based temperature controller system. Recommended
