American Furniture Alliance Mali Flex Futon with Adjustable Armrests

I have a very tiny apartment, so I liked that just the arms folded down and I wouldn't have to pull it away from the wall to open it every time I wanted to sleep. I got kind of worried by the people complaining it was too small, but a) that depends on the users' body size and b) the item specs are posted right on the page so if you buy without researching, that's you're problem. In all my years prior of living with futons and roommates of different size and description, I have never once seen one (futon) that didn't bend and warp from use. If that's not what you're ready to handle pony up the cash and just buy a real freakin couch. I'm 5'3 and 95 lbs, and since I'm the only one using this furniture (aside from a cat) it's perfect. I could totally see someone getting this for a kid's room or spare room. I'm not sure if it would withstand major roughhousing, but it is sturdy- provided you put it together properly!The padding itself is flexible yet plush, though I'm sure I'll be wearing out the side pillows. The label says dry clean only, even for spot treating, so either through a blanket over the thing, or stitch up a pillowcase out of some washer-friendly material.My one complaint is that the back pad doesn't attach, it just sits loose. It could have been made with some sort of tying straps to hold it to the back support, but it's only been a couple times I've woken up and found it had fallen against me, or moved. Once again, it's a small, easily solvable problem and overall I am very satisfied.

Assembly was easy. Product is very sturdy. It is VERY attractive. Sitting is comfortable. Don't know about sleeping on it yet. I put it in a guest room for kids with a TV, Wii, etc. I am very satisfied.

So I purchased this futon for my dorm room about a month ago, and it's been holding up pretty well! I originally saw it on Kmart's website, but was happy to find it on amazon for a much cheaper price. It fits nicely under my lofted bed while leaving a small amount of room for other use.Now, quality-wise. The instructions for setting it up are horrible, but it's pretty easy to figure out without them. Some of the bolts used to put it together were bit rusty and you need two people to put it together (one person to hold the leg in place, the other to use the wrench).Furniture-wise: I have enjoyed it so far. Taking a suggestion from another comment on this page, I used some of the cardboard from the box it was delivered in to provide more support between the frame and the cushions. It's a nice place to chill when I'm not at my desk, and I'm a big fan of the adjustable arms. The cushions are not secured in anyway, so you may have to shove them back in place every once and a while. The biggest mover is the back cushion, but it hasn't caused me any agitation as of yet. Comfort-wise, you are getting what you're paying for. It's not the coziest, but it's still much better than the fake leather futons I was looking at for the same price. I took my first nap on it this afternoon and experienced no discomfort, but I can't say how it would feel to sleep through the night on it.Overall: Good purchase for the price. The product could be improved in several ways, but I have been happy with it.

I will never buy from Amazon again. I order this futon about a month ago. When it arrived it was missing parts. I tried to go online about it but there was no option other than returning it AT MY COST. I called Amazon, was told that department was closed, and I would be called the following day. I was not called. I was sent an email that stated they had sent me a replacement. A whole new futon which comes in 2 boxes weighing about 70+ pounds. Instead of sending a leg. They said I would receive it in A FEW WEEKS. I called and said that wasn't acceptable. They said they would take care of it and send it 2 day delivery. They also said they would send a call tag to pick up the old one but that I had to coordinate with UPS as to when they would actually pick it up. I waited 2 days and no futon. I called again and they advised me that they were not able to ship it in a 2 days. In the meantime I received the call tag. I took apart the futon and repackaged it into the 2 boxes. I put them outside and UPS only picked up 1 box because they only issued 1 call tag. I called again and was told they would issue a new one. Meanwhile I received the new futon. One of the boxes had a sticker on it that said something to the effect of "this product contains chemicals known to cause cancer in the state of California". The other box - the mattress - had an overwhelming chemical smell to it. We put it together, aired it out, and febreezed it but 2 weeks later there is still a chemical smell. By this point UPS STILL had not picked up the other box and Amazon sent me an email reminding ME to send back the return. I called UPS and was told the call tag that was sent to me was the same exact call tag from the original pick up and that's why they hadn't picked it up yet. I called Amazon AGAIN (by now it was about the 6th time) and they said they would send a new call tag. A week and a half later - the box is still here and no call tag. The purpose of me writing all this? Don't buy this futon and if for whatever reason you still want to, don't buy it from Amazon.

It's nice for a small room. Not the greatest in quality but it's good for light use. Mine came with the metal grid part detached. Not sure if it happened during shipping or it was just a defect. I just placed the cushions over the metal grid and it was fine.

I was skeptical when I bought it. But when it arrived it was easy to set up and easy to fold into bed, recliner, or couch. Fits in the tiny spot I needed it to and study enough that I can nap on it. It is not comfortable for more than a few hours, but you cannot expect that from the size and price. I use it for a napping/reading spot in my home office. It is easily moveable for vaccuming purposes. Also, I am using it as a cat friendly spot (we are training the cats to not sleep on the beds or the couches and to only use items in the home office area) and this is perfect for them. It is easy to de-fur as well. Perfect combination solution for my needs.
