It begins on the shaded town square in a sleepy Southern town. A spirited seven-year-old has a brisk business at her lemonade stand. But the little girl's pretty yellow dress can't quite hide the ugly scar on her chest. Her latest customer, a bearded stranger, drains his cup and heads to his car, his mind on a boat he's restoring at a nearby lake. The stranger understands more about the scar than he wants to admit. And the beat-up bread truck careening around the corner with its radio blaring is about to change the trajectory of both their lives. Before it's over, they'll both know there are painful reasons why crickets cry . . . and that miracles lurk around unexpected corners. With its beautiful, lyrical writing, engaging characters who stick with you, and a storyline that will touch your own heart, it's no wonder why so many readers adore When Crickets Cry. Review: Charles Martin, you are awesome! - When Crickets Cry was the 6th book by Charles Martin that I have read. The first was Mountain Between Us, which I purchased in Jan. of this year. I am an avid mystery/horror (King/Koontz) reader and picked up my first Charles Martin book for a change of pace. I finished my 7th book of his last week. He is an awesome author!! He writes books with such detail you think he might actually have lived the life he is writing about. When Crickets Cry hit home for me so much because 2 years ago we found out that my daughter has the same medical problem that was addressed in the book. She was 32 years old and had given birth to her second child the day before we found out about her problem. Some of what Mr. Martin wrote in the book I already knew from what the Doctors told us about her, but he went into so much more information about the condiction. He made me realise just how close we came to loosing her and how lucky we are the Doctors saved her life. Because of the way he writes about his characters, he makes a person feel they are living in the books he writes. Loving, laughing, crying and struggling right along with his charactors. Mr. Martin knows how to put a book together to make us really think of how we would react if we were to be put in the position of his characters. I get the feeling from his books that he really cares about his characters and his readers. He writes a story with feeling, details and wraps it all up very neatly in the end. I have warned the people that I rave to about Mr. Martin's books to be prepared to cry, to not want to put it down until the end and to want more. So Mr. Martin, could you please write faster? My son and his wife got me a Kindle for Christmas and desertcart makes it so easy to buy and load your books. I already have your last one, Thunder and Rain, and hopefully you will have finished writing a new one by the time I am finished with the books of yours that I haven't read yet. You are awesome. People, read his books. You won't be disappointed! Review: A Beautiful Story - Beautiful story, engaging and meaningful characters! A definite 5 stars and must read! The author developed every character fully and brought the to life in a spectacular way. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #4,230 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #6 in Contemporary Christian Fiction (Books) #18 in Southern Fiction #25 in Clean & Wholesome Romance (Books) | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 37,002 Reviews | ## Images ![When Crickets Cry - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91AktwcJ3JL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Media Language, Media Format** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Charles Martin, you are awesome! *by C***I on May 27, 2012* When Crickets Cry was the 6th book by Charles Martin that I have read.
