Replaced Short-lived Treewell Sensor
My Treewell sensor lasted only 5 months, so I bought this one. Works the same and looks similar. After a couple of months, it's working as advertised. I like the wide sense angle and sensitivity control.

Very durable
This sensor is very sensitive and picks up small motions throughout the night, even from afar. It is easy to install and fits any junction box or light fixture box. It blends into the house perfectly and is a great value over replacing the fixture itself.

Works well
Works well my tree leaves and plant leaves 15’ away doesn’t cause false trigger unless the wind I’d really blowing hard. I gave it 4 stars because I bought 2 and one was bad out of the box, the light tried to come on at the test and tried 4 times before it worked. I tested it later in the night and it worked when it felt like. Amazon sent me a replacement and it’s working as it should.

Don’t have any incandescent bulbs on in close range with the detector.
The media could not be loaded. It only worked initially in test mode. Then I realized the small bulb in a sconce next to my porch door, which is always on at night, was incandescent and generated too much infrared heat. It was interfering with the detector. I replaced the bulb with an LED and now the detector works great! Porch lights come on when anybody gets near my porch.

Replaced 20 year old sensor and it is far better than the OEM!
Had a 20 year old Zenith fixture that was perfect but the sensor was failing. Replaced it with this. The range is triple the OEM sensor and the sensitivity is at least double. The only regret is, I wish I would’ve replaced it a lot sooner. Excellent quality replacement.

Used to replace a broken sensor.
The motion sensor for my outdoor security light was broken as the plastic cover gets brittle and eventually brakes. This sensor is an exact fit replacement. That way you avoid having to buy a whole new light assembly. Easy to wire up.

A bargain because of the price? Not quite........
I purchased one of these units, about three months ago, and I've already decided to replace it. Oftentimes, what appears to be a bargain, is really not. This is one of those instances. If you are in the same situation I was in, that is: replacing just the sensor on an existing lighting unit, I recommend you benefit from my unfortunate experience, and consider buying something else.If you are familiar with how these sensors typically work, then you know there is a procedure for bypassing the sensor and making the light simply stay on, until you switch it off at the wall switch. (Typically by turning the on/off switch on and off a few times within the span of a couple seconds).Try as I might, I cannot get this sensor to keep the light on when I need to do something outside. No matter what you do, the light always quickly goes out, and then you have to walk over to it so the sensor will turn the light back on for the time on that you have it set up for, but you will have to KEEP doing that if you want the lights to stay on, unless you happen to be doing something right in front of the sensor.Additionally, if you turn the wall switch on at night, the light comes on for about 30 seconds, and then goes out. O.K. so far-- but even if during that time there is movement in front of the sensor the light STILL goes out. You can tell the sensor "sees" the movement, because the little red led flashes. Nevertheless, once the switch-on period is over, the lights go out anyway. So you have to continue to move around in front of the sensor after it has cycled off, to get the lights to come back on. That's just poor design logic.Last night was the final straw...... We had a rain storm, and the lights came on and the sensor would not turn my floodlights off. After about 3/4 of an hour I realized that they would have stayed on all night, burning up a ton of electricity, had I not gotten out of bed to turn the switch off. And yes, I am aware of how the infrared signature of lightning can trip these sensors. There was no lightning- just rain. So, in essence, if you want a sensor that refuses to let the light stay on when you want it on , or refuses to turn the light off, when it rains, then this is the unit for you, but in my humble opinion, this thing is really worthless.....For about 3 or 4 dollars more, you can get a Heath/Zenith replacement module at your local big box store. I just put one in a couple of weeks ago on a different light, and it works flawlessly, as did the previous one I had, which lasted about 20 years.Save the installation time, money, and aggravation, and buy something other than this poorly designed, thoroughly unreliable device.

When fitted to an outdoor light, it works
Installed this on the back deck, where the wife walks to the garage for her car. It didn't tale long to set it up so that the range and sensitivity were what we needed. It comes on within 2 steps of either the house or garage door, stays on for 2 minutes (which we want) but doesn't come on when the leaves are blowing off the trees. A cat can set it off, but thats ok. Works well, thank you

outdoor motion sensor review
Really nice simple unit, direct replacement for my original one. Really simple to setup and seems to be of good quality. Most importantly the wires are a standard color black, white and red

Cooper Lighting MS180
Mike from Ottawa, OntarioThe Cooper Lighting MS180 appears to function as intended. However, one draw back is that you cannot set the sensitivity, because the device does NOT have this feature. Also keeping in mind that the instructions state that only one of these sensors can be used on one switch and I believe this to mean one circuit also. The red LED light ... technician stated that it will only function (blink) when something comes into the target area. That it the only time you will see this light illuminate. Pretty good 'bang' for your buck.

As an electrician, I know Cooper is generally an excellent product, this motion sensor is no exception.
