Design Engineering DEI 050310 Boom Mat Speaker Baffles, 4" Round (Pack of 2)

Had to cut, trim and smush them into place with speaker. They work, speakers are protected. Music sounds the same

Definitely get the slim line! I ordered this size based on the reviews for the 6"x8" version of this product, and they were not wrong. This is just the right depth and hole size for my Pioneer TSD6802R speakers - anything bigger would be too large a internal diameter, and there's no need for extra depth. Time will tell the longevity, but this seems just as thick and sturdy as the 6"x8" XTC baffles I used for a different set of speakers.Update after installing these into my 2004 Ford Taurus front doors. Although these are the slim line, and match the depth of my Pioneer speakers perfectly (no space between the back of the magnet and the bottom of the baffle), they're still just a hair too deep! The back of the baffle contacts the window just barely when the window is rolled down - in the last 6" or so of travel. It doesn't limit or slow the window travel, just makes a nice squeak of the glass rubbing against the foam. Not the fault of this baffle, just crazy how little clearance Ford gave for their door speakers - just the thickness of the foam on this baffle - since my Pioneer speaker is the same depth as the factory speaker. Not sure yet if I will make the fix of cutting out the bottom of the baffle to fix this issue, as that would mostly defeat the purpose of the baffle - or just live with the squeaking.

This is going to be a mixed review because I’m not really sure what to say. I installed these on one set of speakers, a cheaper set, and it accentuated the sound. Made it produce better low frequencies, just made the speaker sound like it was worth much more, I was very impressed.On the other hand. I ALSO installed these on a set of expensive speakers that sounded amazing right off the bat. My mind set was “wow! If these sound baffles could make that cheap speaker sound good, imagine what they will do for these”. Yeah well they made them sound worse then the cheap speakers without the baffle. Absolutely no mod or lower range, just straight high frequencies.This MIGHT have to do with my application though. The cheap speakers were 5.25’s located in the kick panel with a very holo area behind it. The expensive high quality speakers are 4 inch speakers in a very small awkwardly shaped area that the seatbelt actually runs through. So like I said. Mixed review, worked very well in one case, worked absolutely terrible in another.They’re cheap enough that I can say just get them if that’s your plan. If they don’t work out hold onto them because you never know. But don’t be surprised if you get opposite results then what you’re expecting.Very interested in how they’ll preform when I replace the kick panel speakers to the same brand expensive speakers. Maybe I’ll post a comparison video and change up my review.

A little trimming and it fit perfectly for my salad bowl speakers.

Didnt fit the hole I had and had to cut most of the flange off, which kind of defeats the purpose of the baffles. Thicker than I expected, but that wasnt a positive. If your space is kind of tight, these might not work for you.

Love they make sound system better and protect your investment from water

These have improved the sound quality of my car speakers noticeably, as the car only has a single door speaker each side it's well worth the cost of the product and time to install.They also have the added benefit of protecting the speaker connector from any rainwater that may get inside the gap between the window and door (is an old car, so this gap is more significant than a newer car)Importantly, you must cut a small section out of the bottom of the rounded part, to allow for the movement of air, if you don't do this, you will muffle the speakers, not improve them.

Worked great! Cut the bottom out to let the speakers breath and use the door cavity to reverberate. Lessened the rattle and increased low response. Also protected from any moisture that could find its way down to the speaker.

Works as a barrier to prevent water leakage on speakers. But nothing there to increase sound quality. Not recommended if your looking for sound dampening or enhancing sq. But works well for protecting speakers against moisture.

Die Boom Mat passt super in die Türen meines Fahrzeugs, habe den Boden abgeschnitten, damit das Türvolumen als Bass Resonanzkörper weiterhin genutzt wird. So sind meine nicht so ganz billigen Türlausprecher sehr gut vor Wasser das von oben in jeder Fahrzeugtür runter tropft geschützt und auch wenn man mal in die Waschanlagt fährt ist die Boom Mat immer noch der beste Nässeschutz und erspart den Kauf neuer Lautsprecher. Bin zufrieden mit dem Top-Produkt, kann es jeden nur weiter empfehlen der vor hat sehr hochqualitative Türlautsprecher zu verbauen, so muss er auch die Waschanlage und Tagelangen Regen oder langsam abschmelzendes Schneewasser nicht mehr um seine Türlautsprecher fürchten muss. Das das Wechseln der Originaltürlautsprecher auf z.B Türlausprecher von Hertz oder von Audio System, ein "echtes Wunder" bewirken, muss ich nicht näher erklären, liegt an der Elektronik der Weiche und der Qualität des Chassis und des Hochtöners, das wissen die Car Hifi Insider eh schon alle. :-)
