Dear Monal, Hope you are doing good. Thanks for bringing the issue to notice. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused. In this weather the seeds are prone to be attacked by weevils. We take the best possible measures while packing the stuff, but while storage or while transit if not handled properly weevils can develop. If you will keep the seed mix in bright sunlight the weevils will disappear. This will not cause any harm to the seeds or the birds that are eating it.

Can this be given to squriel?

Yes, adult squirels will eat most of this seed mix.
