Fantastic
Not a lot to be said, it works perfectly, it runs cool, (I don't think I've ever felt any heat at all coming from the unit actually) and it provides an affordable way to get 1:1 reproduction. This is basically the same quality as a high cost model for display rooms, but with less inputs and outputs, meant for consumer use. It was meant to be on and working for long periods of time I gather, because there's no power switch. The way you turn it off, is to unplug the power cord from the unit, or the wall. Using it is very simple, you plug the source into the input row, and plug a male/male composite cable into each/any of the outputs, and then into the respective devices. Of course, make sure you get a few high quality shielded M/M composite cables with this unit, or it'll be useless until you do. I would highly recommend this unit for doing Let's Plays, so you can be playing the game like you normally would on the TV while recording everything you're doing on a video capture card. To be paired with this, I recommend the StarTech SVID2USB2 USB 2.0 capture card. It's a fantastic addition to this product when recording an LP, and provides one of the best setups you can put together, video-wise, for under $100. I'll be uploading a sample video of what the card and this product produce to Youtube very soon. My username is I514. Pros: 1:1 amplified reproduction Very low price tag for such a high quality device 4 outputs Very sturdy metal casing Rack mountable Cons: No power switch (negligible, power cord is easy to just unplug) Bottom Line: Buy. Just, buy it. You won't find a better product for a better price.

I use it to extend the life of Analog Audio equipment.
20 years ago you could buy an A/V Receiver that had both REC IN and REC OUT later AV IN/AV OUT capability for analog equipment. Then about 5 years ago the last of the major manufactures started to phase out AV OUT. I was fortunate enough to pick up a Yamaha RX-V677 here on Amazon that had an AV OUT capability as well as a ROOM 2 OUT, but I had a lot of analog equipment (Tape Decks (Reel-to-Reel, Cassette), CD Recorder, VHS, S-VHS and a DVD-Recorder but no way of getting the REC OUT or AV OUT to all those devices. The Cable Electronics Labs AV 400 Prograde Composite A/V Distribution Amplifiers solves this problem for me buy letting me take the ROOM 2 OUT function and splitting it across multiple AV distribution amps just for the AUDIO. It works good and lets an old timer like me still enjoy good ole analog equipment. I use a pair of these to extend the signal to all my analog equipment. They are slaved to the AC outlets on the back of my receiver so when the receiver is off so are the distribution amps. Now I will have time to work on the 22-year old Yamaha AV Receiver to bring it back to life, in the meantime these distribution amps work with the 5 year old Yamaha and a 44 year old Sansui.

Great for losslessly splitting signals for subwoofers. Zero noise, near-zero distortion.
I bought 4 Dayton Audio SUB-1500's (fully recommended by the way. UNMATCHED value for money) and needed a way to carry the LFE signal from my AVR to each of them without any power loss. This posed the most economical solution. I can not hear ANY noise from the subs, AT ALL. There isn't any noticeable distortion unless you are overdriving the inputs (verified on an old analog scope, so unfortunately no numerical values). Docked a star because inrush current is handled very poorly. Connecting the AC adapter to the switched outlets on the back of the AVR produces a very loud nasty pop through the sub when the output relay closes. This could be damaging to the sub, but is a non-issue if it's left connected to a power source constantly. If you want to use the switched outlets on the amp, there is a simple mod that will almost definitely fix the inrush issue. I've yet to try it, but I'd imagine a decoupling capacitor connected in parallel with the DC-in jack on the unit would filter the garbage from the signal when it starts up. This would have the effect of removing the pop and potentially filtering any noise from the output (if you were using unclean power or something like that.)

Crackly bad output
I used the audio portion of this to distribute pre-amp outs from the main receiver to 3 other amp/receivers. any musical hit or bass kick sent scratchy horrible quality audio through the system. Returned

There are cheaper, and better alternatives.
I bought this with the intention of doing VHS transfers to DVD, using a capture card with my N64, and many other video projects that would require splitting an AV signal. I used it a few times and it worked fine, after a short period of not needing it (about 2 months) I started using it again and it started to significantly effect the video signal via a wide white line that would slowly come from the top of the image to the bottom. The line would continue like that throughout the duration of whatever I was playing through it. I do not recommend getting this, it seems to be very sensitive and apparently won't last longer than a few months. There are better, cheaper alternatives out there that work just as fine and actually last longer. I recommend the 4 PORT VIDEO AUDIO SPLITTER in it's place. Its $16 and does the exact same thing, same amount of ports etc. It even has an On/Off switch.

If You Want Quality, This Delivers
I had bought a different distribution amplifier a few months ago in order to output video gameplay footage to both my TV and my computer in order to record and stream it. I found that the other product seemed to do the job but at a HUGE cost. Any time the colors were too bright, they became completely blown out. For example, if a game had a blue sky, it would turn it white. If the screen had clouds, they would completely disappear. Sometimes, if there was enough white on the screen, it would cause the image to flicker quite a bit. Although the image looked pretty good on my TV screen, the capture itself was clearly receiving a much weaker signal. After careful troubleshooting, I decided to try this product out to fix my problem and EUREKA! It worked perfectly! This goes to show that you get what you pay for. This product promised a 1:1 quality ratio and it delivered. If you've experienced similar problems as I did, this is a life-saver. Even when I took it out of the package, it felt heavier and sturdier than my other amp. I highly recommend this product, so just do yourself a favor a go for it.

Not as good as I thought
The product quality is pretty good and stable, looks very durable, however the quality of the video distribution is not as good as I was expecting for the price I would hope for something better, if you don't care too much about image quality this is a good product I however take pride on quality.

AV-400 professional grade
Very simple to install. Input & Output connections are clearly identified. The unit has holes for wall mounting which is a good feature. I had a cheap no-name brand before. I had too much problem with that. The output was so unstable and sometime it even loss the output signal. I have this AV-400 for over a month now. It is working fine.
