Does One Job, Does It Well
I picked this up expecting it to collapse under my camera like a soggy noodle, because that's the story with budget tripods. Happily, it proved me wrong for most everyday use. The legs lock firmly at multiple heights, the quick-release plate is easy to use, and it folds down small enough to slide into the included bag without a fight. Setup takes about thirty seconds. For casual photography, video calls, group shots, or light camera work, it genuinely delivers. That said, it does have limits you should know about before buying. The pan-and-tilt head can drift slightly under heavier camera setups, so if you are mounting a DSLR with a heavy lens, tighten everything firmly and test before walking away. The center column crank feels a bit light, and extending it fully adds some wobble. Keep the center column low and you will get better stability. For the price, this is outstanding value for beginners or anyone who wants a functional tripod without spending serious money. Just treat it like what it is: a solid entry-level tool, not a professional workhorse.

Affordable and Portable
The Amazon Basics 50-inch Lightweight Camera Mount Tripod Stand with Bag is a budget-friendly and portable solution that offers convenience for amateur photographers and hobbyists. While it excels in affordability and ease of transport, it comes with some considerations, especially regarding stability when used with heavier camera equipment. That being said, it's proven to be good quality as it has lasted me 4+ years with no damage. I especially recommend this tripod to be used with phones, not so much for professional cameras but more on that in a little bit. Affordability and Portability: The standout feature of this tripod is its affordability, making it an attractive choice for those on a budget. The lightweight design adds to its appeal, providing portability that makes it easy to carry around for on-the-go photography sessions. The inclusion of a carry bag further enhances its convenience during transportation. Furthermore, this tripod is very compact making it easy to put in backpacks if you choose not to use the carrying back like I did. Height Range and Flexibility: The tripod's ability to expand to a height of 50 inches offers a decent range for various shooting scenarios. This flexibility is advantageous for capturing different perspectives and compositions, making it suitable for a variety of photography styles. Lightweight Nature and Stability Concerns: While the lightweight nature of the tripod is advantageous for portability, it introduces some stability concerns. The tripod, at times, can be a bit unstable, especially when extended to its maximum height. This makes it less suitable for use with heavier camera equipment, as it may wobble or tip over. Due to its lightweight construction and potential stability issues, it's essential to exercise caution when considering this tripod for use with expensive or heavier camera setups. For those with high-end equipment, investing in a more robust tripod may be a better choice to ensure the safety of your equipment.

Sturdy, well made, works perfectly
I'm an amateur photographer just starting out so I didn't want to purchase a super expensive tripod. I'm actually glad I didn't because this one is perfect. Not to mention the price is amazing. Extremely happy with my purchase

Super light and easy to use with my camera
Picked up this Amazon Basics 50-inch tripod because I needed something lightweight and easy to throw in a bag for day trips, and it has been perfect. Setting it up takes absolutely no time at all, and the adjustable legs glide smoothly so you can get the height exactly where you need it without any fuss. The quick-release plate is a massive bonus, letting me snap my camera on and off in seconds without having to constantly spin and screw it into place. For such an affordable, lightweight aluminum stand, it feels surprisingly stable and holds my gear secure without any annoying wobble. It’s exactly what I was looking for straightforward, highly portable, and reliable enough to get the shot done without weighing me down. If you want a hassle-free, budget-friendly travel tripod that just works, I highly recommend this one.

An excellent first tripod
My new point and shoot camera may be cheap but it can take Full HD videos and wide-angle hi-res still shots. I plan to annoy my friends, family, and fishing buddies by taking Full HD videos of them. For that I need a tripod. Nobody likes shaky videos. I was surprised to learn how affordable such a useful accessory can be so before spent my 27 bucks I watched some utoob videos on how to select and use a tripod (I think I might need a monopod too!). And, of course I read the Amazon user reviews. Only SEVEN one-star reviews, as I write this, against 246 5-star reviews. The few bad reviews seemed to concern the tripod being shaky when the center tube extension was cranked up and/or the total lack of instructions.I think the two issues are related and Amazon could eliminate 5 of the 7 bad reviews by including instructions. The center tube IS shaky, even when it's all the way down, until you tighten the collar. I had never touched a tripod before this one. It's not hard to figure out but don't clip your new camera into the quick release mount until you are sure you know how to remove and replace the mounting plate and FULLY lock the cam lever. That may be why one of the 7 reviewers that gave one star was unhappy. I have uploaded some photos to the gallery that might help locate all the locks and to tell when the quick release is seated. Since I'm not going to be recording combat or Kardashians this Amazon Basic unit will do just fine. It's light, well made, sets up or takes down easily, and, when all the locks are tightened, very steady. The professionals recommend hanging some weight from the center hook because it keeps the wind from wiggling everything and makes the whole assemble more resistant being knocked over by fishing buddies, especially on uneven ground. The professionals recommend using your camera bag but I plan on trying a bucket of ice and a six-pack. With the center tube cranked all the way up the lens of my camera is 63 1/2 inches high. The quick release feature will be handy for swapping to a small telescope. It's not really quick at all if you don't have a second mounting plate and need to unscrew the plate from the camera and screw it onto the scope. The Velbon QB-4W Quick Release Platform fits the base and is nearly identical to the original plate. I bought this tripod for my second digital camera, which is about half the size of my first one. I know there are brackets available that let you use the camera in your cell phone or tablet. You can mount spotter scopes or binoculars too. Who knows what cameras will look like 5 years from now, but I bet they will have a screw mount in the bottom and a tripod will still be a good idea.

Multiple star ratings based on different uses.
I have been a run of the mill character dabbling with video and camera equipment here and there for at least 10 years. Nothing serious, I mean I have owned a number of compact cameras and 3 or 4 video cameras, all run of the mill consumer items. For different activities and at one time or another I have also had different accessories to go along. One thing that most anyone can justify is owning a tripod, and I have owned a number of cheap tripods over the years. But these cheap tripods fit the bill for my needs at the time. Recently I purchased the most expensive camera I have ever owned, which is still just an entry level basic DSLR. (Nikon D5300). I ordered this stand with the camera, and I was dismayed from the moment that I unboxed it. The Nikon is only a $900 camera and lens, but that is still way too much money to go setting on this stand. Aside from the fear I have of the possibility that the the shoe might accidentally get sprung out of its seat, stability is not this tripods strong suite when you are trying to take pictures. This tripod is suitable for compact cameras, internet cams, maybe small video recorders, handy cam type stuff. This stand IS NOT suitable for even the cheapest entry level DSLR cameras. If you are going to spend $600 to $1400 on an entry level camera setup, you owe it to yourself to buy a decent tripod. Something in the $100 - $150 range at least. I ordered a Manfrotto mono pod and will likely get a proper Tripod a bit later on. I was about to ship this stand back for a refund the same night it came when I found a job for it at which it excels and makes it well worth the price. I mounted my external flash on it and it is perfect. The tripod gives you the ability to hold the flash in nearly any position you could ever want. (For a total armature). You don't need to worry about vibrations or anything else when all its doing is sitting quietly in a corner holding your Flash. As well, it's a pretty darn good Mic stand as well. My rode Mic pro mounts to it as well and for that reason, I think I am actually going to order a second one for the flash and the Mic. What makes this tripod so excellent for these duties is precisely because they ARE so cheap. If you need a fast cheap way to hold multiple flashes, and maybe a mic or two, it's hard to see how you could get anything better for the price. Compared to other tripods in this price category, (I have owned a few over the years), this one is actually a pretty good. I can't say that its the BEST of the cheap stands on the market, but it is certainly better than all but maybe one other stand that I have owned, (for cheap stands). I would say this stand is suitable as I said previously, for small compact cameras, net cams, small handy cam type video cameras, external flash's and mic's. This tripod will give you some pretty good flexibility. However this is not the stand you want for even entry level DSLR camera and video equipment. So,,,,4 stars for small consumer products, 4.5 stars for external flashes and mics, 1 star for it's advertised 6.6 lbs capacity for cameras and Video equipment. If you average those starts out, I think a 3 star overall rating is fair.

Astonishing value for money, solid and high quality.
Though I will occasionally use this for photography, I bough it in order to use my laser-level. I am at a loss as to how Amazon can offer a fully-featured tripod of this quality for this price. The tripod comes with its own zipped carrier bag which also has an adjustable carrying strap. But one removed from this carrier and in it’s closed condition it has a built-in carrying handle (something I’ve not seen on previous tripods I owned). Despite Amazon saying it’s lightweight - it is reassuringly weighty, though not overwhelmingly so, and I normally associate weight/solidity with quality in any case. It is a triple-extend tripod (2 position legs and an extendable neck) and with both extension legs in their fully extended positions it is rock solid. The clamps for that are used to release and lock the legs are also solid and there’s no slip when closed or open. The gimbaled rubber feet are also a boon on uneven or slippery surfaces like wooden floors. The head has all the tings you’d expect, rotation, left/right and tilt controls as well as the winder to raise the extended neck, all of which feel solid and sure. There are two spirit levels on this. One circular one above the legs with which you can level the tripod an any surface by adjusting the legs, and another on the head itself so that one can level that (in my case to get it close enough for my laser lever automatic leveling can kick in.) On mine, though, this is a little touchy to say the least. The bubble does not move smoothly, it will go from the edge to the other edge with the tiniest of adjustments and I had to give tiny, gentle taps to make it get to where I wanted it to me, unlike the button circular one in which the bubble moves as expected. But like I said, levels in photography to me are not an issue and as long as that bubble can get close, the laser lever will do the rest. After that it’s just lock it and use the tilt to put the line where I want it to go. I am very happy with the quality of this tripod for the price and have no problems recommending it to anyone looking to buy a completely adequate tripod for whatever reason.

Amazing light tripod for the price
Does the job as described for a very low price. It's not very tall at 127cm and not super stable. The plastic plate to attach to the head also doesn't inspire much confidence. But It's very light and compact so a great travel tripod for light cameras and definitely beats a rock or mini tripod as tripod. The legs locks feel a bit flimsy but do the job. The leggs don't slide out freely but might after some more use. Only having 3 extension stages makes it quick to deploy and the head while not smooth does have tilt and swivel lock.
