The foundations needed to master drawing
This book guides the reader through a well constructed learning path. It puts a lot of emphasis on how to start and the fundamentals of how to draw. I find that a lot of content out here, be it videos or other books show you a final image drawn by an accomplished artist that doesn't show any of the construction and understanding needed to get to that level of proficiency. For me where this book really excels is its breakdown of every technique you need to master before you can draw a great image, before you can draw free of construction. Drawing is about persistence and smart practice. If you want to draw your own concepts free from a reference you need to know how objects are constructed, this is what you will get from this book. The supporting video content is invaluable, and Scott/thomas often stress that it is being played in real time speed so that the viewer gets a real feel for what it takes to produce the final result (a distinctly different impression from all of the sped up drawings available on youtube)I would like to see a lot more authors add this level of depth to their 'How to' books.

One of the must haves if you are interested in industrial/automotive design
I come from an engineering background but was always interested in learning proper 3D sketching and design process of products (mainly automotive). This book explains everything in a very easy to follow way. you start with very basic form finding and then work your way through to lighting and some basics of rendering (How to Render is obviously is what you need to learn about proper rendering). The video tutorials that are linked to different parts of the book are also amazing. You can totally tell this book has been written by someone who not only has the knowledge but also knows how to transfer that knowledge.Used many different books and video tutorials but only two really stood out. This book and the H-Point. Both absolute must haves and totally worth the price (even more so if you find them sale). Invaluable additions to any engineer/designer's library.

Scott Robertson How to Draw
If you want to know all there is about perspective drawing and how to apply it to both simple and complex objects then this is the book for you. The only thing the book does NOT explain is how to draw shadows in perspective but I am sure there must be tutorials online for that sort of thing. As well the book there is an app that goes with it on both android AND iPad, this app contains around 29 tutorial videos that accompany the book and explains certain exercises in more detail.Along with instruction on drawing there are many examples of how the lessons can be applied to creative drawing and this is great for giving you ideas on how to move your work forward. For more information on the book Scott Robertson has a 15 minute video reviewing it and also the app that goes with it on his YouTube channel.

Excellent print and binding from a master artist - But should be called "How to Draw Vehicles"
THIS BOOK IS SPECIALIZED FOR VEHICLE AND AIRCRAFT ILLUSTRATORS - Although he does give examples of landscape for concept art, nearly EVERY tutorial is used for highly accurate, almost technical illustrations of cars and aircraft. This was entirely my fault for not checking, therefore i rated 4 stars because the book itself is very well made, the information is wholly accurate, but it is a lot more specific than the background and description give. How to Render, his other book, however is much better in this regard.

MUST BUY ITEM
If you aspire to be a designer or any kind of artist but do not have the skills to draw, this is the MUST buy.I can say from personal experience that when I read this book it reminded me of my lectures when I was a student aspiring to become an architect. the tutor back then took me through the exact same basics as shown on this book. This book also has videos accompanying almost every step. this means you can't get too overwhelmed by all the information and also it makes it so muc easier to understand.Even if you know the basics of drawing, it still is a very good reference book for various different techniques.I love Scott Robertson's work and he is a great inspiration.Must buy item

Great quality and extremely helpful content
I ordered this book about a week ago, unfortunately there were no new copies so I had to settle for ordering a used version described as in 'very good' condition. I don't usually order stuff that has been used so I was amazed at the state of the book when it arrived as it did not seem to have even the slightest sign of previous use. I have not finished studying this book but I've been using it throughout my year at university so when I came back home it was a must buy for me as it is packed with information that will help anyone that thinks seriously about drawing or looking for a career in that field improve at an exceptional rate.
