A good design
This is a review of the Litex Industries Universal Ceiling Fan & Light Remote Control retrofit kit. FYI: According to the package, this ceiling fan remote kit is rated for a maximum motor amperage of 1.25, and a maximum light capacity of 300 watts. Also according to the package, this remote kit is NOT for hugger-style ceiling fans, but it fit quite well within my 40" or so hugger fan. This remote kit remembers the fan speed setting and light dim setting when power is lost. Thus, if your ceiling fan is powered through a light switch, you can turn the fan off and on via the light switch and fan and light will be restored to whatever they were set to when the light switch turned power off. There are no dip switches to set for the remote control. After you have connected everything, turn the power back on (flip light switch on) and, within 30 seconds of turning power on, press a button hidden in the remote battery compartment. The newly installed fan control box learns the remote, and that's it. The hugger fan I installed this on is a 4-blade fan, of about 40-42 inches or so. It uses a small sealed motor of about 1 amp capacity. There was enough space above the motor to zip-tie the fan control box to the ceiling mounting bracket above the motor on my fan. To be able to do this I had to remove the light fixture hanging beneath the fan (three screws and two wires), then remove the four fan blades (two screws per blade), then remove the decorative motor cover (four screws) to expose the motor and ceiling mounting bracket. Because my fan used a small, sealed 1 amp motor, I had enough space to zip-tie the fan control box to the ceiling mounting bracket, wire the remote box in, and put the decorative cover back on. Then the blades, then the light fixture. I also switched out the four incandescent bulbs for four dimmable LED bulbs that output 60 watts of light each, while only consuming 9.5 watts of electricity. The bulb package explicitly said they were dimmer compatible, and they work excellent with the dimming function of this kit. Something to consider: Since you are exposing your ceiling fan motor, now would be an excellent time to oil the bearings. My fan is probably 25-30 years old and the bearings had begun making a clicking noise some time back. I went ahead and removed the motor from ceiling mounting bracket and lubed the top and bottom bearings as best I could with 3-in-1 oil. My fan runs silently now.

Great replacement fan control, light dimmer and control.
This unit was an exact match for my old failed unit. Installed easily and is still working properly after over a year. Dimming feature works well and all three fan speeds work like they are supposed to. Just a note to help anyone avoid future failures, never reach up to the fan unit to reverse rotation even if the fan is on low and you just want to quickly reverse rotation. Shut it off first! That is how I damaged my original unit.

Works much better than others
I tried another brand first and not only did we not like the buttons on the other brand but they didn't work very well and the thing stopped fully functioning a few months later. This works fantastic. Litex has a great remote here that has very good directions for wiring and install and very well positioned buttons with clear markings. This RCI-103 remote works perfectly with just a quick simple push of a button and works first push every time (not like the other brand we had where you had to hold the button or push it twice sometimes). I highly recommend this ceiling fan remote. Just make sure you either have an electrician do the wiring or you fully understand the proper color coded wires in your house and fan (and of course turn off the breaker to that room/fan while doing the install).

unwanted but a replacement sent against my request.
I returned this defective device... I did not want a replacement. I did not want one.

Other than that it works as it should and was easy to program
Works as it should. Giving it a 3 because I think the wallmount and the remote should be sold together as one unit. Now I have an extra reciever. Other than that it works as it should and was easy to program.

No dipswitches on this remote
Remote works perfectly, and we have our fan/light combination back in working order. The description is NOT CLEAR that there are none of the standard dip switches on this device. I have a wall controller that is now incompatible with my fan. I would not have purchased this item had I known this detail.

Good Product, Easy Installation, and a Minor Complaint
After buying some garbage fan remotes at my local big box since I didn't want to wait for a couple of days, I turned to Amazon and the solid reviews for this product. Sorry I wasted my time with the other units since the two of these I purchased installed very easily, with plenty of room to set the receiver in the canopy brackets of my Hunter fans. A very minor complaint is that I wish they would have spent the nickel more and put a couple of plastic hollow wall anchors in the package. The wall holder that comes with the unit only features two small screws that aren't going to last a number of years in drywall......and if you find a stud, they're not really long enough to bite into the stud. So make sure you have a couple of AAA batteries (they're not included) and some wall anchors around before you begin installation.

VERY EASY!! For my fans
Just installed 2 for kids' rooms. VERY EASY!! For my fans, I had to make sure the light was on and fan at max before disconnecting from power and rewiring for remote. If I didn't, the fan would only go up to the low speed is was on before installation and the light wouldn't turn on. In hindsight, I probably could have just used the chain switches after the remote was installed to get light on. That notwithstanding, it works easily, the kids love having remotes for fans [as we did in previous home], AND remote uses AAA battery, not a fast-burnout watch battery like the Harbor Breeze remotes found at the big blue hardware store [the big orange one doesn't have any). With no reservations at all, I will certainly recommend these to friends.
